Cuddy woke-up flustered and exhausted. Turning onto her side, and checking the alarm clock, it read 9am. She cursed out loud, realizing she was late for her first day, knowing that Matthews’ was a stickler for punctuality, she squeezed herself into her black pencil skirt she bought especially for her first day, and pulled on a navy v-neck jumper that was hanging off her laundry basket.

Nearly falling over as she pulled on her black high heels, she grabbed her black large collared jacket, tying the belt tight around her tiny waist. She ran out the door, only to come running back, realizing she had left her I.D card and car keys.

Once she got out of her apartment building, she saw the snow and ice on the ground, before sighing and shouting in frustration as she climbed inside her stone cold car, and drove the five miles to the hospital.

By the time she had parked, and ran carefully to the entrance of the newly built hospital she looked at the large clock in the lobby and could nearly cry right then and there when she saw she was now fifteen minutes late.

“…The woman’s weight keeps fluctuating, so I think we need to check her thyroid first-” Matthews stopped mid sentence, when he saw a dishevelled Lisa Cuddy burst through the door of his very grandiose office.

Cuddy looked at House and the blonde man, who were sitting opposite Matthews, who was casually sitting in his large leather armchair.

“Glad to see you Miss Cuddy-”

“Doctor. Doctor Cuddy.” She bit at him, House tried to hide his smile, as she both talked back to her boss, and arrived late, on the same day.

“If you’re ever late again, Doctor, be sure you’ll never see me giving you a third chance.” He gestured for her to sit down, “These will be the people you’ll see more of in your entire three years, than you’ll see of yourself in the mirror. That’s Davis, and House.”

Cuddy smiled weakly at the hand Davis leant out, choosing to just get on with their patient’s treatment. “Do we have a patient?” Cuddy took off her jacket, and put it on the side of the sofa the three of them were sharing.

“I have a patient. His thyroid is overreacting, so you are going to test it.” He got up, and retired to behind his large wooden desk, as the three of them stood up to leave. Davis was first, not holding the door for Cuddy, but House stepped in front of her, and held it open for her. She looked up at him, slightly stunned by his sudden politeness. Cuddy walked underneath his arm, before he followed her.

“Tell me this shift isn’t a full day?” House looked at her, “We’re off the clock at five am. I told you this would be fun.” He said with a conniving smile, before walking ahead of her, as she shook her head in disbelief.

When Cuddy got her first break at midnight, the whole of the hospital was like a ghost town. As she sat in the hospital cafeteria, toying with her green leaf salad, she looked up when she noticed a plate being put down on her table.
“Please. Sit down without asking.” In her sarcastic voice, she gave an annoyed look at Davis, with the blonde highlights in his hair. His tie, pulled all the way up to his throat, with his perfectly ironed white shirt tucked in to his tight black trousers.

“Thank you.” He sounded even dumber than he looked, his voice very stilted and his smile was as fake as his hair.

House was sitting in the corner, with his large soda cup, sucking on the straw playfully, as he watched Davis attempt to flirt with Cuddy.

“I’m sorry. I’m really tired, I just want to be left alone right now.” Cuddy tried being polite, but he still didn’t get the message, as he leant his arm out to touch her hair.

House sat-up attentively when he saw his sickly sweet face smile at her, as he felt up her face.

“What are you doing?” Cuddy asked, whilst pushing his hand away. “Your pretty.” Cuddy scoffed, her mouth wide open, “I’m not a piece of meat. I’m a doctor.” Davis smiled in a patronising way, “Of course you are.”

When Cuddy stood up to leave, he mirrored her, and when he wouldn’t move, she kicked him in the shin. “Jerk.” She stormed off, as House watched her, before looking back to Davis who was cowering on the floor in the foetal position.

“Hey!” House walked over to him, picking him up by his tight tie-knot. “Daddy’s boys like you are all the same.” He let him go, as he crashed into the leg of the chair, hitting the side of his head on it.

House took his plate of food, a large steak with fries, and walked out of the cafeteria.

The hospital hallways were empty, except for a few nurses and cleaners; he walked into the women’s bathroom. It was empty, every stall but one was open, and he could hear a faint cry, but it was stifled.

“Who’s there?” Cuddy’s voice came from the closed stall, as she noticed an unusually large sneaker for a woman, as she peered at it from the stall she had locked her self in.

“House.” He lowered his voice, not wanting to cause her to lash out at him. “Did you bring food in here?” Cuddy asked with a slight confusion. “He wasn’t eating it while he was crying on the floor. I think you broke his leg.” House was speaking in between eating the fries, as he sat up on the counter space between the sinks.

“Yeah well, he deserved it.” Cuddy dried her last tear with her crunched up piece of toilet paper, before unlocking the door, and seeing House sitting next to the sinks opposite her stall.

“Why are you in the women’s bathroom?” A slight smile came across her face, as she walked towards the bin, before throwing her tissue in it.

Cuddy checked her watch; “I can’t believe it’s midnight already. I need some sleep.” Cuddy rubbed her eyes, and ran her hands through the stray curls from her hair.

“I’m going to try and relax in one of the resident’s rooms.” She looked up at House, “Do you want to come with me?” There was a pause, as House looked away from her slightly, “It’s okay if you don’t, sorry I asked-”

“Sure. Just, don’t keep apologizing to everybody.” He slid off the counter, and they both made their way to the resident’s building, across the walkway.

There was a sign that read “Silence at all times please.” the rooms that were occupied had a sign on the door handle; there was one spare one at the end of the long corridor.

Cuddy hung her hand slightly on the door handle opening it ajar staring at each other. Within the vacuum of silence it felt like a lifetime.

“There’s only one room.” Cuddy’s voice was almost a whisper. House reached inside the room, brushing past her waist, to retrieve the ‘Do not disturb’ sign. The slight brush made Cuddy swallow a lump in her throat, as the friction caused an electric spark between them.

“No-one will come in with this outside.” House looked at the sign, before Cuddy walked into the room backwards, with House following her closely, their eyes not looking away from each other. He put the sign on the door handle, as it closed behind them slowly.

“I never realized how blue your eyes were.” She looked at him, entranced. “Eyes are just eyes, aren’t they?” His words were made to dampen the flame, but they just made it burn longer.

“You can have the bed, I don’t really feel like sleeping.” He walked towards the lone chair that was placed in the corner of the small box room, which was dressed very plainly. Cuddy turned on the lamp that was sitting on the nightstand.

Cuddy slipped her feet out of her heels, before unzipping her skirt, so it fell to the ground. Cuddy didn’t notice, but House was looking at every square inch of her smooth body.

Climbing underneath the small cream bed sheet, she unhooked her bra, and pulled it through her sleeve before dropping it on the nightstand. Looking over at House, she gave him a leading look.

“Are you sure you don’t want to share?” Her voice was quiet, as House stood up and walked over to the bed, pulling off his wrinkled blue shirt, he climbed underneath the covers, which Cuddy lifted up.

The looked into each others eyes, before House put his long arm around her petite frame, as she naturally placed her head on his bare chest and closed her eyes. House switched the lamp off with his free hand, while the other softly stroked her curls.

Not able to sleep himself, he just watched Cuddy, liking the closeness he felt with her, after all these years detaching himself from everybody around him.

The walls of the house vibrated at the volume of the music, playing from the room-filled living room. Around fifteen college students, dance and grind in the middle of the room. Other are doing beer pong, or chugging from a keg. Lisa Cuddy on the other hand, was not doing any of those things. She’s sitting on half cution-less sofa. A still full bottle of beer in her hand, and a medical journal in the other.
“Liar.” House spoke from behind her.
“Excuse me?”
“You said you wouldn’t be here tonight.”
“Your point is?”
“You lied.”
“Everybody does.”

[House is awakened by a noise outside the bedroom window since he is such a light sleeper. House extracts himself from Cuddy's head lying on his chest and her arm strew across his abdomen. He slides out of bed and makes his way to Rachel's room to check on her. House enters the nursery where he see's a shadow outside the window. House walks to the crib and sees she is sleeping soundly. House then limps over to the window and sees a small person running across Cuddy's backyard. House knows that he can't run to catch that person. House will be waiting tomorrow night to see if Simon shows up again....

Cuddy was swaying from left to right on the hard wooden desk chair in her dorm room; pencil in her mouth, and a blank pad of paper on top of it’s dark mahogany finish.

There was a knock on her door, a heavy-handed knock. Ignoring it whilst she still pondered the ins and outs of kidney failure in teenage boys. However every time she was about to press the led pointed pencil down onto the bare paper, the person on the other side of the door interrupted her with the loud heavy thud on the door.

“For God’s sakes.” Cuddy muttered under her breath, before she un-curled her feet from underneath...

A Happy Life: Chapter 16 (6/18/09)
[The sun is setting over New Jersey. Its streams shine through the windows of House's office. House is sitting in his chair with his red ball in his hands. House's mind travels back to when he found out Cuddy had lost Joy. How broken she looked when he went to check on her. House knew he had pushed her really hard about becoming a mother. House knew that he really hurt her that day. When she asked him why he negated everything. Why did he negate everything at that moment he didn’t know what to say. Then House looked into Cuddy's eyes and he wanted so badly...

Cuddy had come into work, early as usual, and she recalled the talk she had, had with Wilson that night regarding the ticket to Greece...

**flashback**

"Hey, I have a ticket to go to Greece, I won't be using it, I can't be bothered going anymore, do you want to go instead?" he had asked.
"I don't know, I have Rachel and the hospital to look after, not to mention, House, with me gone he'd probably raze the building,"
"C'mon, Lisa, when was the last time you went on...

House was back at the psychiatric hospital. It had been his first week alone, away from the place he had grown to loathe. Sitting in the same sofa, as his psychiatrist tapped her pen on the table, jotting short sentences down after every glance up at House’s face.

“Why don’t we start with your first week back; Do you think it’s going well?” House seemed reluctant to answer yet another pointless and leading question into something deeper.

“I can say anything in here, nothing can be held against me?” House wanted reassurance that whatever he said, would never leave the old grainy...

Chapter 3

Taking deep breath, House reached into his jacket pocket and grabbed the familiar orange perception bottle from its depths. Giving it a shake, he listened to the hollow sound of pills hitting plastic, as he stared at the short list of symptoms on the dry erase board in the corner. Chewing his bottom lip for a moment, he turned each piece of his most recent puzzle over in his mind. “Tularemia…no…no she has a mild rash not an ulcer,” he said making a suggestion for his new patients illness then dismissing it. Mindlessly he flipped off the cap of the...

"I'm so tired of myself. If for a few hours I could just lose myself in some Thelonius Monk I would be feeling ten times better." House said to himself within the confines of his small room at Mayfield.
"Just my ipod for a few hours..."
"Yeah, like that's gonna solve this problem." The blonde snarked from the other side of the bed.
"Why can't you just leave me alone?"
"The better question is why can't you leave you alone?" She said as she rested a hand under her chin and stared back at him.
He sighed deeply and began to look up at the ceiling.
"You're a reflection of my subconscious. You are...

“One… last.. time” he thrust into her and she cried out loudly. House step back from her, quickly pulling up his boxers and trousers, hiding the scar by the way. Cuddy was standing still for a few seconds based on the wall, looking around for her underwear. She took few deep breaths and started to dress up in hurry as House pushed the button. The elevator took them on a hospitals ground floor, open the doors near the clinic. Nurses were running around, letting some patients go out as the fire alarm stopped.

„What happened?!” Cuddy shook the closest standing nurse while House didn’t...

The paramedics had come, along with Princeton PD, and the state troopers, which pronounced it was an over dose. Once they had left, paramedics placed his body in a zip-up bag, and carried him onto the stretcher. They wheeled him out of the office, with Cuddy right beside of the him. She was not crying, much to her surprise. It wasn't like she was happy, she was the farthest thing from it. Her fingers met the cold button, pressing harder than she needed to. After several seconds of waiting, the elevator doors opened, she and the paramedics, pushed him inside the empty elevator. As they got...

It was Monday morning; Cuddy and Wilson were waiting in House’s office to see him. Cuddy was standing whilst Wilson was sitting down.

“Morning.” House slowed down, as he noticed both Wilson and Cuddy where in his office; for reasons he hadn’t thought of yet.

“What’s going on?” House put his backpack down, before sitting at his desk.

“We just wanted to see how you were.” Cuddy spoke in a soft tone as Wilson watched on as House and Cuddy kept their gaze longer than usual.

“I’ll see you at lunch.” Wilson left, looking back at Cuddy before the door closed behind him.

Cuddy woke up, and rushed to the bathroom. It was the second time she had thrown up in the space of days, she knew there could only be one reason.

As she made her way to get dress for work, she looked at her calendar; it had been a month since House had checked into the rehab facility. Both Wilson and Cuddy had made a pact not to have any contact with House while he was inside, no matter how much they wanted to. They knew it was best.

On her way to the hospital, she picked up a pregnancy test, although she hoped it was just something she ate. The thought of becoming pregnant with House’s child...

Cuddy woke-up in an unfamiliar setting; it took her a couple of seconds to realise that it was House’s bed she had slept in.

Looking to her right, she expected to see House’s smug face laying on the pillow next to her, but she was alone.

House was already up, in his bathroom, getting ready. Looking into the mirror, he smiled like a man in love. It wasn’t until he noticed his Vicodin bottle on the side of the sink that his smile turned to a more serious look. Like a ghost from his past, the Vicodin represented everything he had become. It was hard to find his true self under the addicted...

"So, will there be a repeat performance of what we did this morning?" House said as he entered Lisa Cuddy's office. Cuddy looked up from her computer screen.
"House, I'm busy. You have clinic." She replied tersely.
House sat down in the chair across from her desk.
"No. I have an appointment with a certain Dean of Medicine, on top of this desk, for about an hour." He said with a mock look at his wristwatch.
Cuddy let out an exasperated breath.
"This isn't the time or the place..."
"To screw each other's brains out? Okay. Your place or mine?" He said as he rested his chin on top of his cane.

House and Cuddy love thier ship as well
When I normally watch TV shows, I’m pretty neutral. I tend to just watch the show to watch the show, and most of the time have no strong preferences in shipping, to give you an example for Bones, though I adore the interactions between Booth and Brennan, I really don’t care whether they get together or not (in fact I may be one of the few people who fears it). But I can’t help to have noticed, as I’m sure many of you have also noticed about yourself, that I have grown severely attached to this relationship so much so that I was reduced to a blubbering fangirl once THE promo for “Under...

Maybe my dreams were signalling my underlying feelings for him. Sure I admire him as a working man, then again there is his good looking body...DAMNIT! Cuddy had barged into Wilson's office. She hadn't seen House at his clinic duty so she decided to ask Wilson what plan he was pulling.

"He owes me clinic and I haven't seen him."
"You really expect to?"
"He said himself--"
"Just because he said it doesn't mean he meant it."
"So he's avoiding me?"
"I would too." Wilson looked back down and began working again, despite the fact that Cuddy was still venting. Then Cameron walked in, along with Chase and Foreman.
