i think he became a lot more serious and adultlike and a lot less clueless by the end (i mean before the epilogue). Hermione became a little less rigid with following rules and a little more generally relaxed but she hasn't changed a great deal. it's kind of like Ron and Hermione did a bit of a personality swap so they'd be better suited to each other. and Harry's basically exactly the same from book 1 but more mature and i guess angsty.

so I'm the only one who thinks Harry changed a lot. Well I think he did. He started off as an uncertain little boy who knew nothing of the world he became the center of. Curiosity urged him in his actions and to be someone he never before had the chance to be: a good person, who stands up for what he believes in. At the Dursleys he never had the chance to do so. Then at the end of Gof there was a whole twist in his character. He suddenly became the martyr of the wizarding world, who saw you know who return and his friend die, which I of course understand since he was 14, but he was handling the whole thing in the bad way and being the boy who lived nobody told him so. The fifth book just deepened this when he practically became obsessed with his own martyrdom and importance. It just somehow happens with people. Sometimes with me too... that there's something bad and you consciously decide NOT to change it, because it's more comfortable like that, you can have anger fits and people have to understand. But that's wrong. And as Hermione said he got this obsession to save people without thinking... and as he, Harry said the success of these missions was always a matter of luck, but he still got kind of egoistic over them and DA and Umbrigde deepened the chose one complex in him. In book six and seven he was sometimes a really big of an asshole. I don't say he became a bad person, but he changed a lot and became a totally different person. In book 7 he cooled a little down with all the deaths of other people started growing up. That's nice.
