Heyyy I'm back from holiday! I missed writing articles so much! Throughout holiday, I continued thinking of fanpop and article ideas through my head. Oh, phew! I'm not running out of them. Because I analyzed Albus Dumbledore in my head and diary, and ready to post it on Fanpop.
If you read my other articles, you know that the movies introduced me to the universe of Harry Potter. I might be a little late to it, since the club isn't really active than a few fans but still, I keep writing reviews. I really loved Dumbledore in the movies: He's that sweet, wise and smart headmaster of Hogwarts. When I read the books, I was ehm~~ a bit of losing love for him. I mean, he really won Gridelwald, couldn't do anything about Ariana dying and his relationship with Aberforth but seems a little selfish to me that he kept everything as a secret although he could have guided Harry: I mean he clearly planned all of this. He could say "Oh Harry, I made you the lord of death." But he just calmly dies and goes away.
Rita Skeeter analyzed Dumbledore with a book called Dumbledore's life, lies and secrets. I'm writing a similar one, now.
Early Life
Albus's parents, Kendra and Percival Dumbledore had 3 kids: Albus, Aberforth and Ariana. Albus is always described as being "torn" from the family. Percival, Kendra and Aberforth were trying to protect Ariana because she couldn't control her magic, while Albus focused on his friendships, school and magic. This kind of sounds like Percy to me. Percy isn't in my top favorite character lists but I don't hate him, he just wanted a ✨bright✨ carrier. However, I remember Dumbledore always rejecting the offers to be the Minister Of Magic, because he loved Hogwarts so much. Also, in the land of deaths or what should I call it, heaven? Dumbledore told Harry he was really regretting not being near Ariana. He never told about Ariana to anyone because it gave pain, I understand him and can forgive him about this Ariana and family situation.
When Ariana got in trouble with muggles, Percival was angry ( ofc he was, its his daughter, duh) So he tried getting revenge on the muggles, and went in Azkaban for it, eventually dying there. Meanwhile, for everyone, Kendra was a witch that treated her daughter horribly ; while she just tried to keep her safe by locking her at home. And one day, Ariana accidentally kills her mother. About Aberforth, he stays to protect Ariana. But Dumbledore moves on, becomes friends with Grindelwald, shines in school. Now this time this is selfish. They are literally suffering and what!?
Although I think he didn't leave Ariana for a good cause, I hate people showing his letter to Grindelwald as an example. He is completely right in the letter: Let me explain.
"Gellert, I think our plans about hunting muggles are great!"
While all the people in the wizarding world are disgusted by his hate towards muggles, Rita also mentions this part in his lies as he "hated" muggles and lied about wanting to protect them. Ofcourse that hurt Harry too, Hermione is a muggle-born. But let me remind you, Dumbledore is really young and immature at that age, and its one of his mistakes that he regrets: Plus, Ariana was hurt by muggles, so its kind of normal and cute that he hates them at first, soon discovering Gellert was evil and not all muggles are the same.
Lies and Secrets
Lies are the only part that make Dumbledore kind of a jerk, for example he lied to Harry, said he'd keep him safe, and then Harry died.
Luckily, Dumbledore's plans succeeded, that's why I'm keeping him out of the jerk category for now. We didn't need all that drama. He kind of enjoyed watching it. I mean, why the heck did he show Snape as a bad character? He always said, "I trust Snape." But never really told why and played the good character while poor Snape killed him on Dumbledore's purpose.
Speaking of killing, here is how selfish he can be sometimes: "For the better good." He lets every woman, man, child die for the better good. Nymphadora ( oopsies tonks), Sirius, Lupin, Dobby die for nothing. Snape was a spy, he was spying on Voldemort for Dumbledore and he could have protected everyone secretly, while just focusing on Harry and that's because he is the chosen one.
On a rough review, I am neutral about Dumbledore. I mean sometimes I love him, sometimes like, sometimes hate. Mixed..
