There is a survey in Australia toward children and it found that they read Twilight more than Harry Potter, so the headline read " Twilight, dug Harry Potter a grave" Harry Potter isnt dead- who agrees with that, and who agrees Twilight is pathetic

We dont care about the wild fangirls and we also dont need to see Twilight everywhere we turn. Thats rediculous. That really is my underlying point. But thanks again.
I personally agree that Twilight is pathetic, but can we please keep this kind of stuff out of the Harry Potter spot? I know a lot of people on this spot like Twilight and some prefer it to Harry Potter, and you and I may see that as crazy, but if we're going to debate about which is better, let's not do it here, the Harry Potter spot looks pretty sophisticated and clean, and some people here really enjoy it that way.

Oh come on! Twilight became known when the movie came out. If you ask HP fans they will tell you that they read the books first. I am one of those fans. Ok the truth is that my mother made me read them at a very young age cause she wanted to teach me to read books. I didn't like reading back then in fact I hated it but this book was different. It is the only book I couldn't put down until a was at the last page. And trust me this book is-since it was the one that got me into reading books-the only reason I have read the Twilight series. I wouldn't even have bothered!
Harry Potter is classic! It is a whole new world! If you ask a Twilight fan why she likes Twilight she will answer "because Edward is so hot!" or "because of the love story in it!" Harry Potter is so much more than that! Harry is just a kid that has to face the most dangerous evil ever existed! He learnes new things every in a school so different than ours and it's exciting to find out about the life in Hogwarts! The most important bond is in there the bond of friendship! What kind of friendship is there in Twilight? Bella just gives up all her friends and family just to be with a guy. Friends always come first! They are far more important that guys. This book teaches us how to be friends. Ron and Hermione always take care of Harry and they even risk their lives to save his! How many people do you know that do that? Harry Potter has qualities that no other book has and this is one of the reasons it will NEVER be forgotten.
The only message Twilight sends us is to fall in love at the age of 17 run off with that guy thus destroying our future of going to college and get a good job and have a child at the age of 18. Does SM realise the message she sends to young girls? They'll think it's good to run off with a guy and have children before they are even 20. Does SM know what a huge responsibility children are? You need a job in order to raise them and to get a job you must first graduate from college. And I know that the Cullens are rich but most of the girls that are reading this book aren't.
As for the survey Twilight fans are obviously not more than HP fans. I bet the survey was to prove that Twilight has more fans so they chose which people they would ask. Nobody's going to be remembering Twilight in a few years but HP will always be the King of all books.
Everybody just keeps comparing the books, while they are totally different. I love both series. You don't have to compare them all the time. I don't get it.

-I read all of Harry Potter and all of Twilight. Twilight is "okay", but badly written and boring. Harry Potter is amazing!!

That sort of headline obviously relates to the popularity of Twilight, but I don't really like it at all. It's ridiculous.
I have read both series, and I do agree that Harry Potter is better. It has better characters, plot, storyline, imagination and it is just written better. But I still do love Twilight (: I personally think, it's a unique approache to vampires, although it sometimes doesn't make sense.

I think that it is outrageous that they think HP is dead. I love Harry Potter and the fans will always be around so it will never be dead. As for Twilight, I have read it and I enjoyed it as a book series. It was interesting and fun, like Harry Potter, but UNlike Harry Potter the Obsessive Twilight fans are just way too much. Harry Potter will always be my favorite series, and for right now Twilight is my #2, but It is crazy to think that Harry is dead. =)

Harry is not dead... Yes, I wanted him dead at the end of the book, I admit it.... but THE. STORY. IS. NOT. DEAD.
I wanted him dead because I was sure J.K Rowling was doing that... I felt a bit let out, but that's just my opinion. THE BOOKS WILL LIVE LONGER THAN EDWARD’S SORRY FACE.

Twilight makes me want to vomitm. And seriously, let's wait 20 years and see wich one people still talk about. Jk rowling is gonna go down in liturature hirtory, like shakespear. Twilight is just a really long fanfic that got published in a book, and I don't understand how someone could even COMPARE it to hp let alone say it's a better book.

I so agree with yu QueenVictoria73. Rowling will always be known like Shakespeare, Stephen King or Tolkien. Nobody will be remembering Stephenie Meyer in a few years.
ok first of all i luv ur avatar, bellatrix is awsome! scond of all...OMG this is an outrage!!! Harry Potter is not dead!!! its a tons better book, more well written n has humour not just mushy romance stuff. J.K Rowling spent a good 17 yrs writting it wheres stephinie just saw edward in a dream. i bet all the hp fans never took the survey, which explains the answer. nup twilight could never be better then Harry Potter.

I have been a fan of Harry Potter for over 10 years and I like some aspects of Twilight. I don't like the rivalry between these two fandoms but if I must take a side I will, of course, choose Harry Potter.
No it's not dead! Harry Potter is one of the best books series ever. I love them...but (don't attack me) I also like the twilight saga. I hate that everybody is always comparing them and piting them against eachother.

i used to be completely obsessed with twilight and then one day, it was like i woke up and smelled the the sparkling wretchedness.
i actually when into a state of depression becasue of that book and none of my friends understand what i mean. i cut my finger open and tried to suck the blood out becasue of that book. and now i just see that it's pathetic. don't judge me... HARRY POTTER FOREVER!!!
As an Australian, I must say I am very disappointed in this. Sigh. Twilight has never, and will never be better than Harry Potter. I'm so sick of this comparision... there is none.
I absolutley love Harry Potter, but Twilight is good to. But not nearly as much as Harry Potter, and it will be forgotten in 20 years while evryone is still reading Harry Potter.
I don't think Twilight is necessarily "pathetic", but I also don't think it's even close to being on the same scale as Harry Potter. Harry Potter is brilliantly written, has a wonderful and extensive plot, and has absolutely fantastic characterization. The reason Twilight is so huge right now (in my opinion) is because it appeals specifically to young teenage girls, and is easy to read even for people who don't usually read books. As I said before, I don't think Twilight is wretchedly horrible, but I don't think it deserves NEARLY the amount of fame that it's receieved. So fear not. While Twilight appeals to (in my opinion) one particular age group, Harry Potter is read and loved by people of all ages (just look at the book covers-there are ones oriented for kids, and ones for adults). But that's all just my opinion.

Twilight is now IT thing. Everybody wants to be a vampire! " Vampire time ". Wizards are not that interesting anymore.
Which doesn't mean we still can't be fans.

I like Twilight and Harry Potter. However, Twilight does not compare. Harry Potter is more creative, more original, and much better written. I don't know why they are compared all the time- the craze Harry Potter had when it came out is much bigger than then craze Twilight has now. You can't even compare the two, Harry Potter is a critically much better book than Twilight. All in All, Harry Potter will still be being read in 40 years, Twilight will not.
