Harry Potter Question

did anyone feel bad when j.k.rowling said that she shouldn't have ended ron and hermione together?

Hermione was a beautiful and smart witch. she was quick witted, book worm and a great friend. and, though ron was not the brightest wizard, he still had a good heart and was pretty funny. like hermione, he was a great friend. it's like ron and hermione completed each other. ron could teach uptight hermione to loosen up and have fun. hermione was not boring, but she would have missed out so much if it wasn't for ron and harry. similarly, ron could learn to be more focused and more responible from her (not that he was irresponsible).

many say that ron doesn't deserve hermione...but why? ron was never perfect, but neither was hermione..both have their own strengths and weaknesses...and i disagree when people say ron can't keep her happy...why can't he? he has stood up for her ever since they were kids...when she got insulted, he reacted more quickly than harry...he used his own silly ways to protect her...he never stopped trying...he wasn't so good at showing it but he really loved and cared about hermione...so how can't he keep her happy? hermione needs ron just as much as ron needs hermione...afterall, a bright, book worm witch needs someone light hearted and fun just as much as he needs her...

Apparently she's explained the comment further afterwards, and what she really mean was that Harry/Hermione could have worked just as well. She just stuck with Ron/Hermione because that's what she'd originally intended when she first planned the series.

and i read it somewhere that when she first started writing the series, hermione was for harry..but as the series progressed, she ended up ron and hermione together coz it suited the plot..i'm not sure though..but she did say she doubted if ron and hermione should have been together..enough to make me feel bad!! but if what you said is true, it's kind of a relief

I've only ever read the other way around - that Ron and Hermione were the original endgame. I don't really see how one pairing suits the plot more than the other.

I absolutely agree. I think what J.K.Rowling said was FAIL. She probably missed the attention.

She didn't say that! The quote was taken totally out of context. What she actually said in the interview was the Hermione and Ron may have issues in the future that they'd have trouble with and they might need counselling. She has also said that Harry and Ginny's love is true.

She said that Ron and Hermione might not be as perfect as she had thought in retrospect, but not that they shouldn't be together.

Honestly? I could care less. But I do agree with your accusation. And they do make a beautiful couple. But yea I could really care less. All I know is J.K. Rowling probably doesn't know what she's talking about.

Astradyne said:
I never liked them as a couple, because it felt constructed, not organic, right from the very beginning (and so it made the unsatisfied ending - with all the banal cliches - even more unlikeable). During the series I had moments of hope, it would never turn out like it did, but as we see...
