Harry Potter Question

Is anybody else baffled when they hear the actual pronunciations of some of the characters' names after having read them a certain way in your head for years?

the number one example for this for me was Hermione, which i discovered while reading GoF at the same time Krum did! LoL i was like, WHA?!? Her-my-o-knee??? i thought it was HER-mee-own!
other examples are Nagini and Merope. i was unsure about these the first time i read them. now i just look up historical and phonetic information so that i know how to pronounce names like that! LoL

ok here's another one i just remembered: i was pronouncing Seamus as "SEE-mus" until i saw the first movie. it's not a common name around here. i was so confused! even now, whenever i see the name in writing, i always say SEE-mus in my head first. >_<

sorry, i didn't know how to show that it was a hard G sound, not a soft one. it's the same sound as the beginning of the word "gift".

It seems that this isn't how Lord Voldemort pronounces it though. He says Na-GEE-nee, not how the wiki article had it.

actually, that name, i always wanted to pronounce the French way. LoL but it seems that in the movies they do say the "t", no?
