Nah, Snape 1st. He was the main reason I kept reading the books. I just needed to find out more about his motivations, where his loyalties lay, his back story, what he'd do next and what would happen to him. I hated him, pitied him, empathised with him, fell in love with him, cried with and for him, laughed at his sarcastic comments, admired his bravery, condemned his actions then applauded them, etc, etc.
He's become such an iconic character and the words he's uttered have stayed with us so much more than any other character's. Snape has changed the meanings for me to words such as "always", "obviously", "indeed" and the number 394.
Snape was the link that held the whole Harry Potter story together. Out of all the characters, his actions had the greatest impact on the whole HP story. It was almost as if everyone else's actions were reactions to whatever Snape did.
