I really like the fact that it transports the reader into another world, while staying in touch with ours. Thanks to that, you can really identify to the story.
I think that JKR's way of writing plays also a great part in the fact that I could read those books 10 times a year: she wrote these in such an easy yet beautiful way, you totally get into the story and once you begin one of the books, you can't close it unless you have finished!
It's also a serie that is full of "life things": there are good people, but they have got their faults and weaknesses; there are bad people, but they are not completely bad and sometimes there is a good reason for them to become what they have (maybe Voldemort would have stayed Tom Riddle if he had had other parents, for example). It also teaches people than loyalty, friendship and courage are essentials qualities, which is really important, because those qualities aren't considered important anymore in our societies. I think, therefore, that people can be inspired by the great deeds they read about and try to be better, to help others and to face events with bravery.
In short, then, it's a really inspiring story, full of magic, but also extremely realistic, which makes it accessible to everyone.
