did you cry when a character died in the book? who? why?

Yes.

Dumbledore... i think i only cried a little bit, because i kinda knew it was coming.

Fred... I was crying buckets, because he was one of my fav characters

Snape... i was crying, but only really crying my eyes out when i was reading about the memories and what he'd done! Then i really did cry.

Sirius... because he was like the only family he had left, and Harry walked him straight into it, and he was one of my fav characters, and he was so lovely to Harry, and he would've been great in the last battle!

Moody... i don't think i really cried, more just one shed tear for Hedwig and Moody together. I was mostly in shock.

Lupin and Tonks... RIP. You had just given a life into the world and i cried a lot when i though about how they would never see him grow up and learn all these knew things.

I cried a lot during the last book. Actually, i tear'd up a bit when i was writing that last one! :'(

I cried for the deaths of;
Sirius - He's still alive! He's just trapped behind the veil! *still in denial*
Dumbledore - Why'd you have to put that ring on!
Mad Eye - Damn you Mudungus!
Dobby - OMG his death still kills me
Fred - Noooo! Not Fred!!
Tonks and Lupin - They just had little Teddy
Snape - "The bravest man I ever knew"

yeah a bit, mostly in the last book :( all the deaths, Hedwig, Dobby and FRED!!! i guess they were all upsetting coz they were a big part of the book

I cried when Dumbledore died...simply because it was Dumbledore ....then I died when Dobby died....that was soo sad :'( and then I cried, when Tonks and Lupin died....

Yeah, like.. everyone. Sirius, Hedwig, Dumbledore, and that flashback where Voldemort kills L&J, and of course Fred :'[

I cried when Dumbldore died... that was so sad.

Lupin and tonks had me in like buckets and in aid of a towel.

I cried so hard with Sirius ...

Mad eye had me in tears for like 3 hours

Cedric... I still cry at the thought

I cried when Dumbledore died, because it was described in such a painful way. Although I think what really made me go boohoo was the funeral. I also cried when Lupin died, because he was my favorite character ever.

I didn't cry when any characters died, because I knew that every death was going to happen. I probably would've, though, if I didn't know.

I also got this horrible feeling in the pit of my stomach when Fred died, even though I saw it coming. I couldn't sleep that night, after I read it.

I cried when Lupin and Tonks died. Also Snape and Dobby. The sadest by far thought was Dumbledore.

I really can't explain how i cried when a single death has happened. I cried a lot when the below-listed people had died:
1.Cedric- when he requested Harry to take his body back to his father.
2.Sirius- he was the only family Harry'd got left.I like him very,very much.
3.Dumbledore- it was like losing ur father or a protection around u.Even though i knew it was coming, I couldn't help crying.
4.Hedwig- Harry's one of the soul-mates.
5.Moody- sacrificed himself for Harry, even though he was no relative or a friend of him.(i agree he was something other than that)
6.Dobby- i was in my classroom when i reached, reading, there. It was a free period and i thought i couldn't wait to get home to read it.I sat there reading and crying when one of my best friend who was sitting near me asked,"What happened?"I just said,"Dobby died".but later she started teasing me.
7.Fred- i was shocked and stunned when i read that.couldn't believe it.
8.Snape- before i was of the opinion that Snape was sometimes good and other times bad.But, i was so sad that Snape had died before Harry realised he was on Dumbledore's side.
9.Tonks and Lupin- i always found myself asking why did they ever come to fight.
10.Colin- He shouldn't've come back to fight

Sirius Black the most, because he was, well, my second favourite character after Harry, i cried for ages when he died, especially off his own cousin, Bellatrix.

Dobby!! He has always tried to help Harry no matter what, he even helped him more than Kreacher did in HBP, and Kreacher was supposed to be the helpful one, since Harry is his master. R.I.P Dobby :(!

Fred. What would George be without his twin :(? I cried so, so much! And when Percy was bracing him incase of more damage, i thought that was sweet. I loved Fred Weasley, he was a really funny character, and brought alot of life into the films and books.

Snape too, only after i read his memory with his un-dying love for Lily Potter.

Tonks and Lupin! Why did they have to die? Another two of the best characters in the whole thing! After Tonks had little Teddy too :(! Why JKR, why? That is all of Harry's father's old school friends dead now :(! r.i.p - Remus Lupin and Nymphadora Tonks(Lupin)!

I was either nine or ten, and was reading the final few chapters of Order of the Phoenix really late at night. I got to the bit where Sirius fell into the veil...and woke my parents with my sobs.

Needless to say, they were pretty unimpressed by my reasoning for waking them, but it really got to me.

I haven't cried for any other character, because by the point everyone else was being killed off, I had found fanfiction archives with thousands of stories protesting J.K Rowling's killing streak.

I didn't actually cry when he died but when I read about Snape's memories, I cried a bit. That's basically it, the other characters I was sad of course, but I didn't cry

dumbledore - because his death was so tragic. I never really had a decent grandfather in my life (one was a butthole and the other is an alcoholic and controlled by my abusive grandmother) so dumbledore became my grandfather.

Hedwig - Harry's beloved pet and she died in such a horrible way.

Dobby - I sobbed for hours after Dobby died. It was so sad, he always was there for Harry, and he really loved Harry.

Fred - An all round funny man and fantastic character. Poor George, what will happen to him? Will he feel lost?

Lupin & Tonks - Right after their kid, I mean, that was awful. I can't believe she killed them off to save Arthur Weasley. Lupin was so gentle and kind and Tonks was funny and sweet.

Sirius' death was sad, I just didn't cry. It wasn't sad enough and I wasn't attached to the character enough.

I did cry in the part in GoF where Harry is in the hospital wing at the end after Fudge had left and he is crying about how he thinks it was his fault that Cedric died. I cried there.

think for me it will be Dumbledore.. he was the one who was showing the way to harry and he was like a father to him .after he went its like harry is lonely:')

In book seven, when Harry found out he was the final horcrux, and he walked into the forest, prepared to sacrifice himself, all I could think was "No! Not Harry! It CAN'T be Harry! It just can't!

I cried alot during the last book......... maybe even in Goblet of Fire and Order of the Phoenix. I miss
Sirius=because he was like the only family he had left
Fred and Dobby= They were my favorite characters other than Harry and Hermione and made me laugh alot
Lupin and Tonks= It's a shame that they just had Teddy and that they won't get to see him grow up.

I cried when Dumbledore died. I wasn't expecting that twist. I think I actually cried during the funeral in the book. I cried for a good hour.

Here is my list,
Sirius- He was just so brave and cared a lot for Harry and was his closest relative.
Severus Snape- Well it is obvious, this is probably the one I cried most for, especially after the pensieve and how he had loved Lily all his life and never truly getting what he most desired, I find it extremly sad that Harry could never thank him for all he did for him.Also his last words made me cry.
Remus- Ok I was balling when I heard, he was my favorite along with Tonks, just when they had Teddy!:(
Tonks- Not AS much as Remus but I still was upset.
Hedwig-WHY DID SHE HAVE TO DIE???
Mad-Eye- He was just so brave and tough, I literally gasped as I read it.
Fred- I never really cried for him but I felt bad for George, imagine losing your twin
Collin- Because I had always considered him annoying and a pest but I just immedatly felt bad after I read he died.
Lily Potter- She gave up her life to save her only child, I cried a little for James but mainly for her.

Sirius. but im so glad hes still alive behind the veil.

& Lupin. he was the best!! <3

FRED!!! I am still crying buckloads for him :'( espeically because of George... He had like never been away from Fred, they were best friends, brothers, twins, basically each others half... they even worked together... now no more fun together, no more pranks no more anything... he's gone! :'(

I balled like a baby as if I knew they both. Severus Snape because he was so miss understood and never lived a life. He was bound be guilt devotion and miss guided love. Then first WHY DID DOBBY have to die. I loved that little elf from day one. He had as much courage and loyality as Severus.

I didnt cry but i was sad about Dobby's Bellatrix's and Tonk's

Yes, it was Snape. From the beginning I just connected to him. I can relate to him and things he's been through. the fifth book confirmed why as well. He was my most favorite male character and I didn't want to see him die.

Also Hedwig. I know it's stupid but I really loved her.

Snape: I was shocked and sad at his death, but cried when I read 'The Prince's Tale'.

Dobby: Oh God...I came downstairs sobbing my heart out and my family wondered what on earth had happened lol

Of course, all of the other deaths made me sad (well, except for Voldemort) but the above are the ones I remember actually crying over.
