Why didn't Neville just keep Trevor the toad in a cage? it was constantly trying to get away and was a real pain to look after. Do you think this was simply for comic relief? Even Harry kept Hedwig in a cage.

why didn't they just keep the locket in Hermione's bag? i get that they didn't want to lose it but she had that bag with her wherever they went. i think this would have prevented a lot of misery.
