I don't really care if people openly dislike me because in my opinion, that's their problem, not mines. I don't go around looking for trouble, so when I know someone dislikes me up front, my feelings won't be spared.

If I find out that someone I thought was my friend secretly disliked me, then I would feel more worse than if someone openly told me they disliked me.

For me it depends on the situation, like if the person that secretly dislikes me is close to me or not and do I know that they dislike me. Plus is the person that openly dislikes me just petty about it or are they actually cruel... I'm not sure

^Me too.

For the most part, I've pretty much gotten to a point in my life where I just truly don't care what people think about me. Unless the person was a friend, or in some other way close to me, I wouldn't care.

I really wouldn't care either way, but this seems more annoying, having to knowingly avoid said person because they're more likely to be more verbal and active in their distaste.

I really think so .I mean if a person hates me behind his/her back , I can care less , while if she/he openly dislikes you ....well I just have to argue constantly and dislike him/her as well lol.

^I agree. I mean, if someone secretly dislikes me, that's their problem. It means they don't have the guts to say anything to my face. But if someone openly dislikes me, we end up getting in fights and you have to fight against their rude comments, and it's just terrible!

But overall, having someone hate you at all is bad.

I guess both of them are just as bad. :/ I think the stress about whether knowing if someone hates me or not would bother me more.

I've been in both situations, and I find that having someone secretly dislike me is more hurtful than someone who is verbal/open about it. Now that I've grown up, well more since I hit 10th grade and my dad died (9 yrs ago), I stopped caring about what others thought. I mean, no matter what, in life you're going to deal with assholes at some point or another and there's not much you can do about that.
However, if you have a problem with me, you need to tell me. It's just cruel to pretend to be a friend when you don't even want to be around that person.
