(This is my first article, so don't be too hard on me, alright?)
Alright, Zanhar1 posted a link a while ago with an article by a Twilight fan stating reasons why she thought Twilight was better than Harry Potter. Well, I saw several flaws in her reasoning (not that hard), and I decided to write an article about things that I thought were wrong about what she was saying. I’ll put a quote from her article, followed by my argument.

“Also, Twilight is MUCH more creative, I mean, Stephenie Meyer created a new kind of Vampire, instead of just using a stereotypical, Dracula type Vampire.”
And JKR created a new array of creatures, thousands of different spells, new WORDS for crying out loud! Not to mention the entire Wizarding World lifestyle. And characters with DEPTH.

“Plus, they’re MAJORLY hot instead of being creepy.”
What these Twilight fans need to get into their heads is that MUSCLE ISN’T EVERYTHING. You could be the hottest man in the world, but you wouldn’t be the least bit hot to me if you weren’t intelligent, and Harry Potter teaches that. Characters being hot isn’t a lesson. Try again.

“Stephenie Meyer is actually creative while JK Rowling has no original ideas at all.”
See above.

“Twilight is just so sweet and romantic, a fabuous, timeless tale that will likely be around forever”
NEWSFLASH: Twilight is already fading. More and more people are seeing how terrible Twilight is, and going back to be Harry Potter fans.

"Also, Harry Potter teaches you:

It’s ok to drop out of school and go hunt a crazy, murderous maniac by yourself, and not even go with an adult or anything."
Vs what? Ditching school to get it on with your boyfriend? Plus, Bella did basically the same thing in Twilight with James (I used to be a major Twilight fan).

"Death is no big deal, and happens all the time."
Is she saying that death DOESN'T happen all the time? The fact that Harry Potter teaches you that lesson is a GOOD thing! Are we supposed to teach kids that you aren’t supposed to die, and that immortality is best, like Twilight does? Teaching kids (and some adults, for that matter) to accept death as a natural thing is a good thing to do.

“It’s okay to escape from jail.”
*Facepalm*

“Don’t trust your government. In fact, just go ahead and reject them completely!”
Yeah, because the Volturi were SO NICE.

“It’s okay to break the rules.”
Name ONE TIME when the message in Harry Potter was: ‘it’s okay to break the rules’. Harry does break the rules, but almost all of the time he gets caught and punished for it.

“It’s okay to shout at and be rude to teachers and other authority figures.”
Vs being a bitch to your friends.

“And seriously, the books are also all depressing. Lots of good characters die, which isn’t cool.”
Hate to break it to you kid, but PEOPLE DIE IN WAR. Unlike in Twilight, where everything is all happy and sparkly, Harry Potter deals with REAL WORLD situations.

“Also, it’s just so ridiculous, I mean, Magic is impossible.”
AGH! SO IS BECOMING A VAMPIRE! I don’t even need to explain this!

“Robert Pattison, can you say HOT? And he’s totally sexy when he sparkles!”
No explanation needed.

“The Volturi. REALISTIC Villains, instead of insane freaks in cloaks, like Voldemort and the Death Eaters”
*dies of laughter* The Volturi ARE insane freaks in cloaks. Is this a joke?

“Robert Pattison as Cedric Diggory. The ONE thing the producers got right! Don’t even try to deny you don’t rewind just to watch his scenes again!”
I deny it. Actually, Robert Pattinson was okay in HP. Not the best, but not NEARLY as bad as he was in Twilight.

“Lucius Malfoy. Hot, even for an older guy!”
Now THAT, I agree with.

Alright, that concludes my arguments. I just needed to rant SOMEWHERE or else I’d explode. :D
I'm adressing the rabid Twilight fans if they would listen. I'm also adressing the common fans of both sides of this debate.

There are some things one may and may not do in a formal debate unless one wants to look like - pardon the language - a freaking donkey.

Nr 01: One may not argue against the debaters points by attacking him or her. This is called argumentum ad hominem and is a fallacy. For example: If I am to argue that free elections is wrong and states that the arguer is an imbecile that does not deserve the right to vote, then I have committed a severe personal attack and will be frowned...

Many of you might have noticed that the golden trio from Harry Potter (Harry, Ron, and Hermione) had always been paired up to fight with the not-so-golden trio of Twilight (Edward, Jacob, and Bella). Now, XDRoseLuvsHP had pointed out a great deal on why HP trio would win against the Twilight's (you can find it link), so I figured perhaps it's time for the villains to battle.

My first thought was off course, James and Voldemort; but then, it didn't seem fair on the Twilight side. James was not a very good villain; his character was poorly underdeveloped and his powers weren't very outstanding...

This is a (long) rebuttal to KatiiCullen94's argument, the title of which is in is article's title. (Though you've probably all seen that by now.) I haven't included her points in this, so it will be necessary to read her article first.

1. The majority of people in this world cannot relate to Bella. Tell me, how many people can go to a new school and automatically be the prettiest and most popular girl there? How many girls can say that they have FIVE males lusting after them?

Bella does care for people other than herself - her boyfriend. That's it. She was perfectly happy to hurt her father...

This is my last article and as you may know I never really came here to argue, just to figure out what was going on in Twilight-Haters heads.

Bella- Whiny and Moany ?
Everyone says that Bella is so whiney and the point is so what if she ? I am sure if we went into your heads ,you would be as moany as her. She complains about the attention she is recieving from boys. I would too it would totally creep me out if suddenly I moved to a new school and everybody likes me.
The friend problem: Jessica is not a good friend after being to 9 schools so far I have met people like this and only can I comment...

Firstly, this is not my article. I found it over the internet and pasted it here because I find it really hard to believe that there are people like this in the world who are completely ignorant or just plain stupid.

The e-mail was apparently from Kayla Patterson, a die hard Twilight/Taylor Lautner fan upset about Universal Pictures ripping off the werewolf idea from Twilight.

To whom this may concern:

This movie was a complete waste and I feel that it offends ALL Twilight Fans around the world, that including myself. For one, it was a COMPLETE remaking of the Wolf Pack from the Twilight Saga:...

Hmm... this could take a while. Haha, I have a lot of reasons for my strong dislike of Twilight. Before I start, I'd just like to explain that I was once a Twilight fan, so I've read all the books and stuff, but I just can't stand it anymore. Therefore, I can give a more complete explanation of my views. Sorry if it's really ridiculously long.

First reason I hate Twilight: the media. Twilight, in all honesty, isn't a great book. I have read worse books (though not many... Twilight was pretty bad). However, if Twilighters and Twilight articles and such weren't all "OMG ITS THE MOST AMAZING SERIES...

Voldemort is notorious for his fear of death. To avoid death, he is willing to kill innocent people and destroy his very soul.

Now, everyone with any sense knows that Bella is a Mary Sue, and Stephenie Meyer desperately wants to be Bella. I even personally know quite a few Twilight fans who realize and accept this. And what does Bella want? She wants to become a vampire.

Here is some commonly known knowledge about vampires (according to Meyer):

-Kill innocents for survival
-Practically immortal
-Possibly lose their souls, though this is not known for sure

We see Voldemort killing innocents for survival....

Okay now I will begin off with something that has really begin to get on my nerve. How Twilight fans write out their articles on why they like Twilight. Not just articles other things too. I will give you and example of one: "For people.....blah blah blah." Like these. Who are they directing these too exactly? I know some the title says it, but they expect only those sort of people to respond. Pff yeah right. I see that kind of title I go in and see what kind moronic things they have to say.

Most Twilight fans I see on this site lack the skills in proper grammar. Okay first if you ever want...

This article was actually wriiten by an ex-twilighter(iloveyoudarling), not me, and i dont like the way she wrote it, cuz it is kinda rude, but i posted it so that maybe some twilighters here could consider giving harry potter a chance because the article proves that even though you love twilight there COULD be a better book out there:
Dear Twilight fans,

I was you one day. Addicted to Twilight and couldnt ever stop reading it even if i had already read it 4 times. But trust me on this one will you. READ ANOTHER BOOOK!!! AFTER YOU DO THAT TWILIGHT WILL SEEM LIKE A STUPID ROMANCE STORY.

Let's set the scene before this begins shall we? A girl, we'll call her Ven, is walking home from school and gets a call from her friend. Ven and said friend have not spoken in a while so they start to ask what the other has been up to. They eventually get into the subject of books they've read. And that's where this little story starts.

So Ven's friend asks her what her favortie book is. "Oh, that's an easy one." she replies. "Harry Potter of course." her friend laughs and says, "Of course. Well, my favorite book series is Twilight."

Ven, having never even heard of the books, makes a confused...

Well, here's my first attempt to a short story :)

“Hey! Stop him! He’s stealing!!!!” the owner shouted. Ron ran as fast as he could, but he didn’t get far. Only a few yards from the shop he collapsed to a large person and fell on the ground. The ring fell next to him and the man understood what was going on. He picked Ron and the ring off the floor and dragged him back to the jewelry shop. “I think this boy has something that’s yours” the man said looking at the shop owner and he gave back the ring. “Thanks” the owner accepted in relief.
“What’s going on?” a familiar...

This article was NOT written by me. I found this somewhere else as a comment and thought it was great and that it should be shared. Don't give any credit to me. I just copy pasted.

First of all- Harry Potter isn’t just a childish bedtime story. Nor is it shallow. A story based off a single dream has no depth. Twilight fans will never what kind of man James was before he turned vampire. Rowling, however, spent 15 years planning every little detail. She created a world within our own for her witches and wizards. She has based their heritage off of real mythology and history. Their spells are...

I'll tell you my story. I love Harry Potter. For all the right reasons. So one day my friend loans me his Twilight DVD and the horror began.

I didn't like the movie. I thought the actors were too forced and forgot to take acting lessons but it was a laugh. I then realized that this horror was a series of books. My bookworm friend had all the books and I borrowed it from her for a bit of light reading(*grin*).

All would have been fine and I wouldn't have existed on this site had it not been for the words she showed me on the back of the book that said 'Move over Harry Potter'. I lost my remaining...

I've been seeing this question a lot lately. Twilight fans don't know what is wrong with Bella. I have written this article in order to try to explain exactly what is wrong with Bella. There are actually many things wrong with her, as I will be explaining in this article.

The first thing I will acknowledge is the mental instability of Bella Swan. In New Moon, Edward dumps her, and she becomes depressed. Now, I understand that it is very disheartening to have your boyfriend dump you. I would be able to understand if she had been depressed for, maybe two weeks? No more than a month. But Bella...

51. Your reason made no sense at all, I think you probably tried to say that it isnt that good

52. This is not a reason, this is just a bunch of harry potter people having dialouge

53. This person is not really saying anything except that they shouldn't be compared and the person just likes the book but she doesnt think that harry potter is better

54. They just dissed twilight and they don't think that harry potter is better

55. Ilike 5 different guys at the same time too: fred, lupin, harry, ron, arthur
anyways just b/c u lik the guys doesnt make it beter, wat do u mean fall in...

Okay. I know what you are all thinking. Oh no not another Harry Potter vs. Twilight article but yes I am making one because I can. I just want my opinion to be heard. So first off let me list the reasons why children, teens and adults can love Harry Potter and the good messages that Harry Potter gets across. Harry Potter first of all teaches people about the very special bond between people called friendship. Harry, Hermione and Ron are a perfect example of friendship. They are all with Harry until the very end like they promised. They risk their lives for each other and even though they fight,...

Ok, well I’m getting pretty tired of people saying that Bella and Edward’s relationship is love. It’s not. It’s just lust. Let’s look at the clues:
-She sees him and thinks he’s gorgeous.
-He likes her smell.
-He’s a vampire.
Now, before I start writing about these points, I would like to compare the relationship to that of Snape and Lily. Yes, they have never gone out but they didn’t need to. Snape met Lily when they were little. He probably thought she was pretty and developed a crush on her which bloomed into love. When Snape found...

Realised the points have little to do with plot, thus changed the title to errors.

My apologise to Twilight fans if I'm a little too harsh, but I have reread the books like twice this month and it was a little exasperating. Not to worry, I'm currently rereading Harry Potter, so a plothole list on it will be added soon =)

Ok, let's get started:

1.A hundred years of...nothingness?
Explanation: I don't expect science fiction books to be scientifically accurate. But if you plan your main character to live 100 years studying in prep forever at the age of 17, make the whole book plausible. No, just saying...
