First, let me get this straight: I'm not a fan of Twilight. In fact, I hate it. But I can see why everyone's so hyped up about it.

You see, I've recently been introduced to a new theory- The Twelve-Year-Old girl theory. It's mostly used in music, like for popular icons like Hannah Montana, Justin Bieber, the Jonas Brothers, but Twilight also fits into this catagory.

What is the Twelve-Year-Old girl theory, you might ask? Well, let's just look at people at the age of twelve first. When you turn twelve, you're on the thin line between childhood and the teen years. You're young and vulnerable, you want to have fun, yet still remain composed and cool to your peers. It's also the time where you're most prone to follow trends and fads, just because everyone else is doing it and/or it's popular. This may include good things, for example, yoga or whatever, or bad stuff like drugs. (NOTE: this doesn't include all twelve-year-olds. Some remain to being themselves or just being neutral).

This also applies to Twilight. The emotional abuse and lust is bad, but yet girls like it. Why? Maybe pressure from the rabid fans at their schools are so great that they pretend to squeal over it. OR maybe it's because they don't have enough experience with books to tell the good ones from the bad ones. (NOTE: Again, this doesn't apply to all twelve-year-olds, just the majority of them). The Twelve-Year-Old girl theory covers both of these points. I'm not calling any of you Twilight fans dumb, just that maybe you're a little book/romance-naive.

I would like to add a little sub-theory to that theory: a little somthing that I (and the Latins) would like to call: 'argumentum ad populum', which means 'appeal to the people'. A logical fallacy that some really #1 Twilight fans use,'argumentum ad populum' suggests that if many people believe it, then it must be true. It's also an opression of opinion, and has resulted in many tragic events in history, like the Holocaust.

If you don't fully understand 'argumentum as populum', then let's put it this way: If many people believed that Jupiter was made of chocolate, would you? Maybe, maybe not. Would it be true? Not without proof, it wouldn't.

There's also this theory called 'the perfect man theory', which I kinda made up. Girls like Twilight because it has perfect Edward and his sparkly-coated, Adonis-like body. I understand that everybody wants true love and all that crap, but it doesn't necessarily have to come in the form of a fictional character. Also, no man is perfect, I can tell you that.

Now, these three theories do not cover all fans, especially the sane fans, but it's how I think Twilight came to be so popular. Hoped you liked it. If you didn't, then you can find me on here, the C.A.T. club, or the AAR club.

I honestly don't hate, dislike, like or love Twilight. It's just neutral with me. I never really had any problem with it until I saw an article saying that Harry Potter copied Twilight. The person who wrote it also went so far as to say that J.K. Rowling is ugly and that Stephenie Meyer is the pretty one. It just irked me, because the looks don't even matter (they're both equal too) and it's not a valid point.

She said something about Sirius Black being copied from Jacob Black - who is commonly described as a big wolf in his werewolf form. And Sirius (she spelled it as 'Serious'. I laughed...
