Edward Cullen. A sparkling "vegetarian" vampire who is supposed to represent the "perfect boyfriend". He's hot, strong, fast, and he lives forever! What could be wrong?

Well, a lot, I'm afraid.

Edward Cullen is not, I repeat, is not a good boyfriend. He is actually an abusive boyfriend. Before I go on to offer proof as to why Edward is abusive, I will clarify what I mean by "abusive".

What is an abusive boyfriend?

There are different kinds of abuse. Many people think of a boy who actually beats up his girlfriend. That is physical abuse. There is also psychological abuse. This includes emotional abuse and the abuse of her rights.

Edward definitely abuses Bella emotionally as well as abusing her rights. He even abuses her physically a few times. But before I get there, I will go over the signs of an abusive boyfriend in which Edward exhibits.

-Always by her side
-Questions her when she disobeys him
-Jealousy
-Possessiveness
-Forces her to do things she doesn't want to do
-Dangerous driver
-Drains her self confidence
-Isolates her from friends and family
-Teases her hurtfully
-Reads through her mail
-Stalks her
-Scares her
-Damages her possessions
-Steals from her

If you are an avid Twilight fan, you may be thinking "He doesn't do any of that!" I'll explain each of these points.

-He is always by her side. He insists on driving her to school and driving her home again, he is always with her. This may not seem bad at first, but it actually serves the purpose of making her dependent on him and letting him "keep an eye on her".

-When she goes to see Jacob against his will, he questions her and is very angry with her. You may say, "but he thinks Jacob is dangerous!" Well, I say not. He even admits it himself later on; he's just jealous. Whenever Bella says she wants to do something against Edward's wishes, he questions her and finds a way to get her out of it.

-There are many examples of jealousy. The most obvious would be Jacob Black. See the last point for information on that. However, it does not end there. There is also Mike, Tyler and all the other boys at school.

-All I need to prove this one is a quote Edward once said:
"To be perfectly honest, she'll be unavailable every night, as far as anyone besides myself is concerned."

-He forces her to go to prom when she does not like dances. He forces painkillers on her when she clearly does not want them at the end of Twilight. He forces her to let him drive her home ("He was towing me toward his car now, pulling me by my jacked"... "'I'll just drag you back,' he threatened, guessing my plan").

-Do I really need to explain that he's a dangerous driver?

-He always reminds her of everything that is wrong with her. "Silly", "stupid", "klutz", etc. This is more than being realistic. This is insulting her.

-Once Bella becomes Edward's girlfriend, we never see her with her friends, we never see her with her parents. She spends all her time with him. In New Moon, when Edward leaves her, he commands that Alice, Bella's only friend, does not see her again. In Eclipse, he isolates her from Jacob, the boy who pulled her out of her depression, because he was jealous.

-See the point on draining her self confidence

-That is how he knew that she was accepted into Dartmouth without her knowing. That is how he forged her signature so she would go there. This should not be seen as "doing it for her own good". It is her choice. While she may not have the best sense of judgment, it is not Edward's place to force her to do anything against her will, and forging signatures counts.

-He watches her sleep, and starts that up before he is even her boyfriend. That is just plain creepy. He follows her "just to keep an eye on her". Sure, it may have saved her from getting raped. That is a plus. However, he did not follow her knowing she would be in danger. He just wanted to follow her.

-He does indeed scare her. He throws her across a room (yes, it is playful. Either way, he did it to scare her. He did this because she told him that he isn't scary). He rips a branch off a tree. He breaks her bed. All of this is done to scare her.

-He does indeed damage her possessions. I mentioned breaking her bed in my previous point. He also removed the engine from her truck.

-I do count taking everything that may remind her of him back to be stealing. Yes, he just hid it under her floorboard. Either way, he took it away from her. I do not care that he was "just trying to help her". He should have let her deal with her depression in her own way.

Examples of his controlling nature are as follows:

-"'Bring on the shackles - I'm your prisoner.' But his long hands formed manacles around my wrists." Symbolism. She is his prisoner.

-Demands that she eats in Port Angeles.

-Admits he would have forced an abortion upon Bella had it not been for Rosalie (this may count as physical abuse).

Now, I know that many people disregard this. They say "he's old fashioned. He's form the 1900's." I do not accept this excuse for his behavior. For one thing, he lived through the Women's Rights Acts. He still grows mentally, no? He should have adjusted. Stalking was never considered normal. I don't care if it was the 1500's; stalking is creepy. In fact, none of his actions are considered "old fashioned". They are abusive.

So, do you still think Edward is a good example for boyfriends everywhere? I think not. I hope you enjoyed my article :D
People keep on saying that Bella has no flaws. What about being clumsy? They also say that she's codependent, and she's anti-feminist. Aren't those flaws?

I just don't get why people say that Bella has no flaws, yet at the same time, they point out her flaws.

Also, they say that the Twilight books have no plot. Please tell me why they have no plot.

Twilight: Bella meets Edward. They fall in love and Bella meets the parents. James smells Bella and wants to kill her. Edward eventually kills Bella and reverses the vampire transformation.

New Moon: Edward leaves Bella. Jacob is apparently a werewolf....

1. When a twilight fan says 'twilight rocks' say 'rocks made of twilight?'
2. Go up to a twilight fan, scream 'Bella! Bella! BELLA!!!! YOU'RE AWESOME!!!!' when they say 'I know right!' say 'Oh no I meant Bellatrix'
3. Ask them all questions about twilight that you can think of. When they ask why say 'I'm doing a book report on the most boring books of the world'

WARNING This article might be quite offensive to twilight, so if you're a fan of twilight (especially if you're one of these crazy fangirls) please do not waste your time to read this and comment. I know there's no point of me telling you this because you'll read and comment anyways, but at least I tried.

Dear characters of twilight,

Bella, please get a life. When peoples' love leave them, they try to stay strong and keep fighting for what is worth it like Hermione did. They do not curl up in the fetal position and go numb for weeks like you did.

Edward, you think you're hot when you sparkle?...

I first found out about the Twilight novels about four years ago. I was at an event with a raffle, and I’d acquired several raffle tickets, and was looking through the raffle items. I came across copies of Twilight and Eclipse that were being raffled off. I’d never head of the Twilight Series before, as this was before they’d become really popular, and I loved reading, so I put my tickets into the raffle for Twilight.
I wasn’t really surprised when I won, since I’d put three tickets in, and only a few other people had entered.
I got home and began reading Twilight, and then when I was...

A few years back I read an article about Robert Pattinson and Rupert Grint and a bet.

Actually it's about what the loser got to do when they lose the bet rather than the bet itself(it was never really mentioned, anyway).

Here's what the article says:

Despite the chilly weather, we got to chat with Rupert while he waited for some friends. Recent reports about this famous redhead stripping down for his upcoming film "Cherrybomb" had Rupert grinning, "No, actually it was really cool, even though that was a very intense kind of scary moment. I was nervous but everything came out great."

We quickly asked...

So, you like Harry Potter? What about Twilight?
I've read (and watched) them both.
When I was twelve I picked up a paper back cover of "Twilight" at the airport for something to read on my plane ride home. I did become quite infatuated with the series, tearing through the second, third and fourth books. I went on this fan club on my old account (which I have long since abandoned) and talked trash about Harry Potter, and talked about how wonderful Twilight was. I talked about Twilight like it was my Bible, and mocked Harry Potter (which I knew next to nothing about). However, when I was thirteen,...

Bella: *walking into Forks High School* Oh, look, that guy is kind of hot. His name's Edward? Oh well, who cares anyway? There's more to life than hot guys. Or guys in general.

Bella: Oh, look, i'm really popular for some reason. Well, these people seem okay. I'll be a good friend, and not ignore people or treat them like crap, and DEFINITELY not ditch them to hang out with my some guy.

Edward: I love you Bella. Hey, wanna go out with me?

Okay so first of i am going to say again i am a fan of both. But if you would ask me what i like better i think it would probably be Harry Potter. But i want to hear out why do YOU dislike/hate(tho hate it's to of a strong word for a book/movie)Twilight.I want solid arguments not such as : cause the vampires there sparkle , like this Twilight fans could just say 'because Harry has a scar' or 'because they go to a school of magic' or 'because all death eaters are black(mostly)' i mean these are arguments just so you can say something.I tend to believe these days people hate/dislike Twilight just because others do.And i will ask you nicely and be thankful if you could tell me why you don't like it at all/hate it.
Dear Stephenie Meyer,
First I would like to thank you for taking the time to read my letter. It means a lot to me. In this letter, I would like to explain why I do not like the Twilight series and how it did have room for improvment.
The main problem I had with the series is how Bella and Edward's love is shown to be ideal, when in fact, it's unhealthy. Throughout the books, we do not get any insight on their hobbies and likes/dislikes. The problem with this is that we do not know if Edward or Bella share any common interests to be considered perfect for each other. In fact, they only had...

Twilight fans, this is a debate spot. So DEBATE. There are a few issues I see at this spot concerning you guys:

- Saying it's better because Edward/Jacob is hot

Okay, those kind of arguments are instantly invalid, coz beauty is subjective and depends on one's perspective. Also, can you actually SEE what they look like in the book series? Nope. And the inside of the person is what really counts.

- Saying it's better coz it's a love story

What Bella and Edward have is not love, it's infatuation. They only like each other because of how the other person looks like/smells. They never chit-chat like...

When me and my friend Fiona were in the sixth grade, we decided to write a fanfiction about the Twilight characters going to Hogwarts. (We were both major Twilight fans then.) I wasn't the best writer in those days, so the beginning of the fanfic isn't great, but it gets better as we go along.
You'll notice that our seprate entries can get a bit confusing at times, and that's because we were writing by e-mail because she lives six hours away from me, and we were just making it up as we went along. Fiona is writing about the character Peace, and I am using the character that I use for EVERYTHING,...
