Essay Three in my ‘What’s Wrong with Twilight’ or WWT series, is entitled “Bella is Messed Up”. We will be exploring what is wrong with Bella by examining her choices and actions. I may later test her on a psychoanalysis test.
One, she is pathetically whiny. You could open any page of a book and find one where she’s whining. TwiFans try to cover this up by pre-bookmark-ing a book at a page with a description of the setting (One of the so very few there are). She always begs Edward to turn her into a vampire, even when he blatantly refuses her pleadings every time.
Two, she is too dependent on other people. She’s only okay when Edward is right frigging next to her, and wishes that Edward were there if he’s gone for more than five minutes. She falls into deep depression when Edward leaves in New Moon, and is only okay when Jacob, AKA guy-with-eight-pack, lusts after her instead. She can’t even stand up without Edward catching her for more than a day.
Three, Bella is a bad role model. To further this point, I’ll need to drag in the epic awesomeness of Harry Potter characters Hermione, Ginny, and Luna. Hermione is strong, she’s the best in her year. No doubt Harry and Ron would have been strangled by the Devil’s Snare in their first year if she hadn’t been there. She’s definitely a good role model. Bella does get good grades, but never does she SHOW any effort, or show us what she can do with her ‘massive brain power’. Ginny is a very capable witch, she’s hot-headed and when Harry broke up with her, she didn’t JUMP OFF CLIFFS to hear him in her head. Ginny wins. Luna is very imaginative and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her or her thoughts. Bella constantly needs reassurance that the God-like Edward still lusts after her. Harry Potter girls triumph once more.
Four, she’s a Mary-Sue. And a self-input one at that. Look at the first description of Bella, and compare it to Meyer, yeah. Another sign, is that she has no flaws. Note to Smeyer: CLUMSY IS NOT A FLAW!
My brain is fried, so I’ll leave it at that. Yes, I know it’s pathetically short, please don’t kill me. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed! And remember, Bella is messed up!
