Bookaholics This is much, much better. You actually gave some good reasons. However, you did not address at all why Twilight is BETTER than HP, which is the whole point. Harry Potter has all the things you mentioned as well. Certainly an improvement though.

I don't know what YOUR definition of stalking is, but the dictionary says stalking means "to follow or observe (a person) persistently, especially out of obsession or derangement." I'm pretty sure that describes exactly what Eddie was doing to Bella. 2. I wouldn't fall in love with my best friend. I did that once and it ended in disaster(What a coincidence!!!) And of course no one could disagree with the fact that Bella and Edward would end up together. Meyer wrote the books to fast for anyone to come up with a debate. 3. Bella literally gives up EVERYTHING for Edward. Everything means her family, her friends, and every last thing in her life B.E.(Before Edward) I don't know about you, but if getting married to a guy meant I had to give all that up, I'd kick him out on his sorry ass. And I definitly wouldn't give my life for someone who can be mistaken for Tinker Bell. I'd put more in, but I have school tomorrow.

ToyletGnome Did you want to come up with some real points to back up your argument? Go get some quotes that illustrate how Edward and Bella love each other for reasons other than appearance then I can at least respect you for trying to put together an intelligent argument. Edward does stalk Bella. You say it's for her protection (I don't really agree this is a good thing but it's better than before), why could he not guard from outside? There was no point in him watching her sleep except that he's creepy. I wouldn't EVER want to be with Edward, he's not a good person. BTW, I've read the series twice and I've seen each movie. I actually used to like Twilight but then I woke up and saw that it's badly written and promoted male superiority, pedophilia, necrophilia, bestiality, shallowness, a disregard for parents, disrespect towards friends, anorexia, teen pregnancy, teen marriage, stalking, and abusive relationships. The only positive message conveyed in Twilight is abstinence until marriage, and that's completely debatable anyway. Personally, I think it just pushes people to marry younger (see Edward and Bella) which could lead to making the wrong decisions. However, that is merely an opinion and obviously different things work for different people, but of all the morals in the world, abstinence?

ravenclawgirl5 ^^Yeah, I agree with abitofLunaTic. Where's the "better than HP" part? HP had plenty of love. Harry and Ginny, as well as Ron and Hermione, knew each other for a long time. It took them a while to realize their love. And you actually got to read about them FALLING in love, whereas in Twilight it's a fast process. Edward and Bella "fall in love" quickly, which doesn't even happen in real life. Secondly, Harry has amazing friends, too. Ron? Sure, he might've walked out on Harry and Hermione in the seventh book, but he returned, like a loyal friend would. Hermione? She's always been there for Harry. Neville? Luna? They're amazing too. I can't say too much about your third point, Edward and Bella's dangerous love, becasue HP isn't a romance. But lemme try . . . Let's see. Harry and Ginny's love could've been dangerous. As it said in the sixth book, Voldemort would likely go after Harry's loved ones. So Harry lets Ginny go, to protect her. And plus, I don't see what's so good about killing yourself if you boyfriend/girlfriend died. What about your other loved ones? They'd be devastated. Sacrificing is one thing, but killing yourself isn't very romantic. In my opinion. I don't know.

MarauderForever Um. It's stronger to live without someone then to die because you don't have them. Just look at Harry. He lost his parents (although he can't remember them.) He lost his father figure (Sirius) and could have easily have wanted to die then. The Marauder's could have easily have committed suicide after Lily and James' deaths. Sirius was in AZAKABAN. The worst place in the world. But he fought through it because he had to protect Harry. He just had to give himself over to dementors and be technically dead. And poor Remus excluded himself from the rest of the world because no one understood him anymore. Try losing your best friends for good. Your family. They won't come back like Edward. Because they're dead. Sirius and Remus and so many other characters in HP are must stronger and passionate just because they live on with their 'horrible' lives because that's what their loved ones would want! Willingly killing yourself for love is NOTHING to be proud of.

ImOnlyKait10 Where is anything that says that Twilight's better than Harry Potter? I'm a Harry Potter fan. I used to be a Twi-Hard. Then I read Harry Potter. I thought that Twilight was a work of literature. But, it has no plot and it's about this 108 year old sparkly vampire who stalks a human girl and they fall in love. The same thing happens with slight changes throughout the entire story. There's not much action, either. I liked the action in HP. It was a shocker, after just reading Twilight where Bella is never involved in anything. She's just there. She cooks and she cleans and let's the guys do everything for her, there isn't a single strong woman in the whole series. Not even Alice is counted as strong because she's describes as small and petite and isn't in much of the action. **SPOILER** In the last book she runs away and doesn't come back until half way through the war. Rosalie is just this stuck up, rich girl and it's depressing to read as a girl myself. It makes me feel like I have no purpose but to clean and cook for the guys. But Harry Potter showed me that the girls can kick just as much ass as the guy, if not more. Hermione Granger is the brightest witch of her age. Molly Weasley kills Bellatrix Lestrange because Bellatrix tries to kill her daughter. Ginny Weasley fights for Hogwarts, also for her own freedom to stay with Harry and any other boyfriend she's had. Fleur DeLecour was in the Tri-Wizard tournament and fought to win. She fought a dragon, had to dive into the pong to save her sister and even though she failed she still showed courage through everything. This is only some of the woman powers. Merope Gaunt goes against her family's wishes and uses a love potion to capture Tom Riddle's love and has his baby, but can't live with the fake love and stops giving him the potion and dies after giving birth to her son, who she makes sure is named after his father. *~*~ Thanks, and sorry if I sound rude. TriaRose Alright, honey. Let's go through this argument together. Take a look at Edward, some people thinks he stalks Bella? I am here to tell you that is false. He does not stalk her at all, he feels it is his duty to protect her because a life without her would be no life at all. Stalk (Verb) To pursue persistently (heehee alliteration!) If this isn't what Edward does to Bella, I'm a hippogriff. As for "a life without her would be no life at all," if Edward were a stronger person he could get over her, just like guys in the real world do everyday. People breaking up in high school is no big deal, even if you are 100 years old. He DOES NOT fall in love with her because she 'smells yummy' that is why he is attracted to her at first. It's just like you liking a person because they are cute or whatever. Then he gets to know her and they just fall in love because it's freaking fate, and you can't argue with fate or destiny. When did fate or destiny come into the Twilight series? I believe that WE control our fate. I will admit that Harry Potter isn't a BAD book, Twilight is just better. I mean if you need any more reasons I could go on for days. Please do. You haven't given us any. Okay, so let's look at Jacob. He is the best friend Bella never had. What are Ron and Hermione, chopped liver? They're the best friends that Harry ACTUALLY had! Who wouldn't love to fall in love with their best friend. Lots of people. Me. He is there to protect her when Edward isn't. And Edward only leaves her because he thinks he is putting her life in danger and he wants her to have a chance at a normal life. Bella decides for herself that she belongs with Edward and I don't think anyone could disagree with that. This is because Bella is male-dependent, which is a horrible thing to teach young girls! Speaking as a female, we need to be strong without a man! Bella tries to teach us "Okay girls, if your boyfriend leaves you, you are nothing. Go jump off a cliff." Hermione teaches us, "Okay girls, if your boyfriend leaves you it's okay to cry a little, but you need to pick yourself up and be strong." If she didn't go with Edward she'd probably go with Jacob and that would be fine too. Both of the guys would go to hell and back to keep her safe and they basically have. Yes. Hell and back. Because camping and fighting people who you are guaranteed to beat is going to hell and back. The main part of these books are that Edward falls in love with Bella. It's probably the riskiest romance you'll find. I'm sorry if you can't see that. Risky? What's risky about it? The constant "Bella, I may eat you or crush you"? I think we've proved he can suck her blood and stop, and that he is careful, so it's obviously not that risky. They both have to give up a lot and Bella is willing to sacrifice her human life and life as she knows it just so she can be with Edward forever. Sacrifice her human life? That just shows how pathetically male-dependent she is. How she's willing to give up her friends, family, and everyone she knows for ONE GUY! That's not strong or sacrificial. That's sad and pathetic. Edward protects her because he doesn't want to live one day without her, and most of us say we don't want to live without someone, but, would any of us really go the extent of doing whatever we could to make sure we ended up dead if our loved one died? I doubt that. No, of course I wouldn't! Because I am a better, stronger person than Edward. My existence doesn't depend on a whiny Mary-Sue. I am able to mourn and grieve, and then move on and go and do something with my life. Not that I would forget the person I loved. It's just something we say thinking we couldn't survive without someone. But Edward would really kill himself for him. Pathetic. And it is amazing that Bella would be willing to give her life for a vampire. That's not strong. That's pathetically male-dependent, as I said before. Now, can you give me real reasons? alexisn10 The only thing I disagree with in this article is the whole stalking thing. He felt like it was his duty to protect her but she still had no idea that he was following her. Yes that doesn't really fit into the definition of "stalking" but it is really creepy. Other than that, pretty strong article.

cassie-1-2-3 Of course... (She was only pregnant for a couple weeks, and she was always involved in each battle, in one way or another) My comment on that had nothing to do with Twilight. I just really hate the "true man", "true woman" concept, in all cases. Just because someone doesn't fit into your little mold, that doesn't mean they're any less of a person or character. There are REAL LIFE men who have killed themselves over losing their girlfriend. When you make such a general statement like that, you're including these real human beings as well.
