How Twilight and Harry Potter can't really be compared...

So I have heard/read a LOT of arguments over this topic, and I find it ridiculous. Here are some reasons why they can't be compared with each other:

1- Writing styles. Rowling writes in a descriptive third-person, whereas Meyer writes in a first-person account of a seventeen year old girl. You can't expect Bella to talk like a professional poet of some sort, I doubt many average teenage girls do that.

2- Plot. Harry Potter is mainly about wizards and fighting. Twilight is about Vampires and romance... Totally the same (Major burning sarcasm).

3- Audience. Harry Potter is aimed for children. Before the whole nagging about "It's suitable for everyone" You are liars! Babies cannot read, toddlers cannot read and so many others cannot read. Don't lie. Twilight is mainly aimed at teenagers and young adults.

4- Characters. None of them are alike, not a thing in common. They are all unique in their own ways.

5- Message. Twilight is basically a message of love in all forms (diversity love?). Harry Potter is about friendship.

These are a few of so many reasons why they can't actually be compared. They are too different. If anyone has any more points, please reply. It shall be fun to attempt some kind of bridges being built between the fans. It would be nice to be friendly with each other, and have kind discussions about the books/movies together.

hatelarxene Um... about the audience... Can't adults read? Also, I think you got the messages mixed up. Twilight is about love (obsessive and possessive love, actually. I don't know how to consider that "real" love...), while Harry Potter is about love in all forms. Love between families (Lily and James's love for Harry; Arthur and Molly's love for Ron, Ginny, Fred, George, Charlie, and Bill, etc.), love between friends (love between Harry, Hermione, Ron, Luna, Ginny, Neville, etc.), and romantic love (romance between Harry and Ginny, Ron and Hermione, etc.). You're saying that an entire series based on LOVE doesn't have love?? I think you got the messages mixed up. Twilight isn't a message of love in all forms. No way. Lol. If you got that from reading Twilight, that's actually really funny. Also, about the audience. I think you're being really biased.

ArcticWolf They are both one of the most popular book series out right now (along with Hunger Games), and that's why a lot of people like to compare them. I see it as a perfectly acceptable reason, but I guess that's just me. I also agree with hatelarxene.

totalpotterfan babies and toddlers might not be able to read but the books can be read to them if they like it!!!

tsmith120 They were both book series to begin with, both about teenagers, both have fantasy elements in some form or another, both written around the same time and had films about them being released shortly after... They have A LOT in common when you think about it. And you can compare them quite easily.

gondorwarrior I would like to tell you that when my brother was seven he read the books. I would also like to tell you that my mother, brother, and sister have been reading me the books my entire life. And I would also like you to know that babies and toddlers can watch movies. I remember the first time i watched GOF. I remember the first time I saw TPOA, I would have been threeish, so, You are wrong. Babies and toddlers can see the movies and have the books read to them. MY BROTHER WAS SEVEN WHEN HE READ THE BOOKS.

Why Twilight is better than Harry Potter-The real reasons you asked for.

So, I stated my opinion on why Twilight is better than Harry Potter (there are so many haters on here!) and a lot of people wanted specific reasons, so here it is.

First of all, Twilight is about love. Real love. From what I understand, the "love" in Harry Potter isn't much. Edward would do anything for Bella. Die for her. How I see it, I know Ron and Hermionie get together, but he seems like a horrible person for her.

And while I was talking about Hermionie, here's something else. She's a week character. Unlike Bella, who struggles every day. Hermionie has no problems, the only things she has...

Before you read anything: I happen to enjoy both HP AND T. I also happen to think HP is a billion times better. This is just my opinion. No need to freak out about this article. I am NOT trying to undermine T fans' opinions, I am just stating why I (and at least a few others) get annoyed with T fans.
