So the other day, I was chatting with my TwiHard friend, when a mutual acquaintance came up to us and joined the conversation. After a few minutes, the acquaintance mentioned that she hadn't seen Eclipse yet, and was going to rent it and watch it that evening.
As both my TwiHard friend and I had different opinions of the film, she said "You'll love it", at the same time as I said, with my usual cynicism, "You'll hate it".
Now first, let me clear something up. I did not hate the Eclipse movie. In terms of accuracy, I thought it did a pretty good job of sticking to the book, and overall, while It's not one of my favorite films that I've seen, it was definitely one of the better Twilight movies, and it had some pretty funny moments (though nothing compares to the "Facepunch" movie scene in New Moon-"Put your gun down or I'll shoot you in your freaking face!") so I'd be the first to admit that my words were a bit of an exaggeration.
Anyways, after the mutual friend had left, my TwiHard friend and I agreed on a little bet. Whoever's original words were closest to how she really felt about Eclipse after seeing it would win, and would get to make the loser do anything they wanted, within reason. I was certain that my victory was in the bag, since the mutual friend had never expressed any love of Twilight before.
The next morning, we met the mutual friend, (who had no knowledge of our bet), before school started, and eagerly awaited her opinion of Eclipse. Here is what she said, (and this is a quote): "It wasn't too bad, I mean, it was pretty good".
I registered what she'd said just as my TwiHard friend began cheering gleefully over her victory. I then waited to see what she had in store for me.
Finally, she came up with my punishment for losing the bet. I have to re-read the Twilight series, and join the Twilight Series spot on here, at least until I'm done with the book. I figured that she's hoping that I'll read it again and like it so much that I'll become a real fan of the series.
Right now, I'm partway through Twilight, and she's been quizzing me on each chapter. No joke. She also knows the book well enough to ask obscure questions about each Chapter without looking at the book. Here's an example of the sort of thing she asks: "Describe the shirt Bella was wearing when she leaves Arizona to move to Forks".
Oh well, at least it'll help my debating on here if I know the books better.....
Moral of the story: Never make a bet with a Twilight fan. Or actually, don't make any bets at all...unless you're pretty sure you'll win....or actually.....never mind....
