Why didn't Jasper kill Bella in Twilight?

Jasper was wearing a noseplug.

... What? It never said he wasn't.

Maybe he was too preoccupied with James? Or maybe Emmett was holding him back? Or he was too scared of Edward?

I can't think of any logical reasons, but I think if Jasper had killed her there, the books would have been much better :)

I can't think of any logical reason for why he didn't and I know you don't want someone to say "Oh, Smeyer sucks at writing", and I'm not going to say that. This kind of question can pop up in anything, not just Twilight so I'm not going to say Smeyer is a crappy writer, just this is probably a mistake anyone could make. But honestly, I have no idea why he wouldn't have killed her. Maybe because Edward would've protected her if Jasper had tried?

When I read it, I figured that he had been taken outside. Only in the film does it say/show that he was killed in the studio.

Thats a good question.. :) This is just my opinion.. It could be her emotional aura.. It was so painful at the studio.. This could have prevented him from going to her.. At the same time, the revenge and hatred coming from James would have made him pay attention to him rather than Bella...

Jasper's mind was preoccupied with fighting and killing someone else, thus satisfing the killing desire.

Perhaps Jasper expected that Bella will be hurt and possibly bleeding so he knew what was coming so it was easier to resist. In New Moon it was completely unexpected so he just went for her without thinking about it.

I didn't really concentrate reading the books but I guess I back up what everyone else has said; Jasper must have been pre-occupied fighting James (I think that's the right one?) He can control emotions so maaaaaaybe.... his emotions can also control him?

Well, I've never noticed this before. The best thing I can come up with, is that Jasper was too occupied trying to kill James to notice Bella was bleeding so badly. You know, an adrenaline rush? In New Moon, there was no threat nearby, and he probably was not prepared to control himself if Bella was bleeding. Maybe he knew Bella would be bleeding in Twilight, so he could mentally prepare himself to deal with the smell. In New Moon, he wouldn't be able to mentally prepare himself.

That's the best I've got.

Because there wouldn't have been a sequel. Would have made a good ending though.

The way I see it, I think Jasper was preoccupied.
Remember how when James was tracking Bella, he didn't drink any other blood? I think Edward did mention that when fighting or drinking, your mind goes a bit blank and that's the only thing you focus on. In Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, Bree said she "shut her mind off" and was a tracker now. I think this could be applied to Jasper too. He was too busy dealing with James to notice the stench of the blood, and when he burned James, the smoke made Bella hard to smell.
I could be wrong, but that's how I percieved it. :)

surely the answer is because if he had twilight would have been over and s meyer would have made less money and they wouldnt have had enough stuff to make lots of movies and make lots of money lol
