The 'battle' in Breaking Dawn: possible outcomes?

I posted a pick where I asked who would you want to die if there were an actual battle in BD--Bella or Edward. A lot of people said that if one of them died, the other would probably kill themselves, which would probably be true. Hypothetically speaking, if Edward or Bella did die in the battle, do you still think their love for each other would make them commit (or attempt) suicide like in New Moon? Would they be so blinded by their pain that they would actually kill themselves, even knowing they have a daughter? Would either of them pawn off their child to their family, or even Jacob?

I'm not sure if they would, but I wouldn't doubt it. They're both very selfish and only think about each other and not the feelings of others. Would the possibility of losing their other half forever make them go insane and kill themselves? Even if they didn't commit suicide, how long do you think they would grieve, and how good of a parent do you think they would be to Nessie during this moment of grief?
