Director James Gunn held an impromptu Q&A session using Twitter’s Periscope streaming video service, and fielded questions about Marvel’s cosmic sequel,

Gunn revealed that casting, at least of an informal sort, has already begun, as he has been talking to a certain actor about playing a new member of the Guardians. He didn’t reveal any details about the identity of the actor or the character.

Gunn also took the opportunity to, again, touch on the matter of Star-Lord’s father. Gunn reiterated that he doesn’t care of the character of J’Son of Spartax, Peter Quill’s father in the Marvel Comics Universe, and felt that to use him in the movies would make the films too similar to

. Gunn remained tight-lipped about who would be filling in for J’Son in the movie universe.

Okay, being that he\'s using the Abnett/Lanning run(masterpiece btw)

he most likely will be picking a team member from that series.

Bug?Mantis?Major Victory?Phyla Vell? Adam Warlock? Moondragon? Cosmo?

Okay, smart money\'s on Cosmo(please,please,please Jimmy make it Cosmo!), but I think it\'s going to be Moondragon.

He\'s Draxes daughter. She ultimately helped Drax kill Thanos.

Plus, to find out his daughter\'s still alive would be a heavy emotional element in the next film.

Well he did say that the next movie will be about fathers...

I don\'t know. I mean yeah, that\'s there and an option. But, James had Drax repeatedly say he SAW his family get slaughtered. I think he was trying to say \'I do have her dead\' in doing that. I more partial to Angela. He hasn\'t said no to her yet. Also, Asgardians have being geared as an alien race and not a mythical presence in the latest films. Having Angela get in there would cement that. 

It it could be that, Odin(Loki), sends Angela to retrieve the Aether. Thanos already got it, after killing Collector, and finds an ally with the Guardians. She never retrieves it and stays on with the Guardians until she can  claim the Aether and return to Asgard.

Calling it now: Star-Lord’s father in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will be Starhawk and they will have the Guardians from the future appear in the film (Vance Astro, Nikki, Charlie-27 and Martinex) via the time gem. "A being of Pure light"

if they follow the Drax mythos then Drax "seeing" his wife and daughter could very well  be implanted memories by Mentor of Titan. so she could very much be alive. if it\'s Starhawk that could be interesting especially if they are both Stakar and Aleta. however  it will probably end up being Adam Warlock

As a fan cast choice I would love to see John Schnider as Star-Lord\'s biological father.
