Fanpop Question

I am the creator of a spot in which the spot icon has been changed by someone else other than me. How/Why does this happen?

As a spot creator, I am more than welcoming of people's opinions about what the spot icon should be. In the particular spot, however, I am the only active fan and all my other contributions are pretty much ignored, as far as I can tell, so I didn't ask for people's opinions on the spot icon/banner, because no one really participates in the spot that much. Then, today, I saw that someone had changed the spot icon. This is particularly annoying, because the spot if for both the 'Where The Wild Things Are' book AND movie (because the spot for the book alone was very small, so I thought it would be much better to combine the spot), so I had the spot banner with images from the book and the spot icon with an image from the movie, so that people could see both sides. Now someone has changed the icon to an image from the book.

But enough of my life story. My question is, how does this happen? I have heard rumours that the Fanpop Four have been randomly changing spot icons, but that doesn't sound right to me. Does anyone have any definitive information on how and why spot icons randomly change?

I searched for information on this topic, but found nothing, so if this is a repeat question, I am really sorry, but my search did not turn anything up.

I know what you're saying,Missy. Someone did the same thing to one of the spots I'd created but it was the banner instead of the icon.
That is just so damn rude!
I understand if someone can't find the creator of a spot or maybe if the creator isn't insterested, still in that case I think a pick should be made so other club fans can voice their opinion.
As for how it was done? Well, unless anyone has access to your password then one of the F4 would have done it. Obviously someone emailed them and suggested a different icon. I personally know of no other way of a banner or icon being changed.
All I can add is that if you were happy with the icon you had then do as I did and re-upload the initial icon.
Hope this helps a bit!

Thanks for your response Cammie! Yeah, I'm pretty sure no one would have asked to change it. Especially since I have a forum set up to say that I am the spot creator and that I am happy to address any issues with the spot. And the likelihood of someone hacking my account is very, very low. I guess I would just like to know if it is actually the F4 doing it, so that I don't have to worry about someone hacking my account or something.

I'm confident that that is exactly what it is. But if you have concerns as to whether someone might have hacked your account then you should email the F4 and claify this for your own peace of mind. I know that papa is usually the one that's "in charge" of changes to icon.banner requests. At least, it's HIM i bug anytime I've wanted something altered,LOL!

well, how VERY VERY unfanpopeque! if i were you i would chnage it back to the original one actually. as cammie said its likely someone got the f4/moderators to change it. imo it should NOT be possible to change icons/banners withoot picks first.
you could make a pick now and ask for opinions..or make a forum asking for suggestions- (so you can see who posted the new one lol!!)

Hmmmm I guess it is possible that someone requested an icon change despite my forum that states that I am open to suggestions. And I never set up any pick for it because only 3 or 4 people ever answer my picks, despite the size of the spot...

ah but you know harolds rule #6 People dont Read! sometimes what sualey does is change an icon for the less active spots and then post a pick if anyone objects. i think thats fair going, too.
