when you go to report another user at the bottom it says notes,what does that mean?HELP!

The notes section is quite an important aspect of the reporting tool.
as an example say a user is sending me spam messages. i can block them but i also want to let the F4 know what this person is doing, possibly not only to me. if i just report them as a spammer the f4 will look at their profile maybe check oot some comments this user posted and find nothing. possibly they look at forum activity or the links and again find no behaviour that is against the terms of service. they cant KNOW this user is spamming via messages.
so in the notes section i can put the information they need to deal with this person. maybe other people report them too saying they are receiving these messages. maybe they get back to me asking what exactly this user sent me. but all of this will only happen if i provide a reason for reporting the user.
the f4 need information this site has too many members.they cant be involved in everything!
they cant know if someone is having a "OMG EDWARD IZ HAWTER TAHN JACOB" feud and just reported a user because they got in a fight somehow. ive seen comments on this site where people threaten to report others and think they will just get banned. they dont. the f4 go through the stuff thats reported and try to judge if there is a valid reason and thats why you need to explain your motives.

When reporting any kind of content its always a good idea to leave a note!
if i report content on the "how i met your mother spot" i always give a reason. im not sure which of the f4 mainly does the moderation (though im guessing its papa judging by some comments he made) and i know he isnt a fan of the show. how should he know if an image i reported is really miscategorized if he never saw the show?
if someone posts a quiz and makes a mistake and i just report the question as false: how should he know that barneys favourite catchphrase is "legendary" and not "epic"?
your reports will be taken care of in a better way if you always use the notes section!

also in he notes section if its a duplicate you can paste the other url and state this is the other one that saves time searching thousands of icons say on spots like oth or house.

absolutely true! if you see a repeat: post the url of the original!

You don't have to fill that section in. If you want to give more details about why you're reporting them (e.g. a link to a comment/picture/etc they posted, or whatever else) that's where you would put that info :)
