2. Have many other people read the request and your answer.
3. Have those people vote for your answer as "best answer" (by clicking the button 'vote as best answer'). If enough people select your answer as the best one, it will be 'promoted' as the best answer for that question. It's not clear how many such votes are required, but I suspect it's more than 10.
