Fanpop Question

Helping a Medal Whore?

So I just got a message from someone who will remain nameless for the time being, and she asked me if I would fan her stuff on a certain spot to help her get a medal, and even included a handy link to her whoretributions.

On the one hand, I don't want to condone Medal Whoring, but on the other hand, I don't want to make anyone mad..... And I didn't really like any of the stuff they asked me to fan......

Hmm...I suppose I could don't and say I did? O.o

I guess you're already kind of resolved about this, but I thought I'd tell you my standing on it anyway.

If I receive messages and wall posts asking for me to join spots or 'fan' content from Fanpoppers who I have had no prior contact with, and I'm busy, I simply ignore their pleas, with the safe assumption that they've sent them to dozens of people, and even if I didn't want to upset them by being non-responsive, they wouldn't notice.
However, when I have nothing on my hands (Fanpop-wise), I tend to check out their content and see if it's any good, and if I think it contributes to the club well, even if I'm not a personal fan of the content, I'll fan it so that fans of the club will prioritise it higher and thus receive enjoyment from it. If it's bad content, I leave it. And I never fan clubs which people ask me to unless I AM a fan of the club, and prepared to contribute content and join in at some point down the track to and with that club.

But this is merely my own reaction to such questions. From the points you have raised:

A. You don't want to condone 'medal whoring;'
This is completely understandable, but if the content which they have uploaded is good content which fans of the club they uploaded it to will appreciate, then they're not really a medal whore, merely an avid Fanpopper who's sharing their good content with other fans. On the other hand, f it's bad content ... yes, fanning it would be condoning medal whoring, as the Fanpopper who's uploaded it has obviously been simply spamming people with requests to fan the rubbish they ripped off Google in order to increase their medal tally.

B. You don't want to make anyone mad;
I doubt that by simply ignoring their requests you will make them mad. From past experience, they never respond even if you DO fan their content/join their club unless you sen

^ I had to publish it as an article because Fanpop cut off the last bit as it was "too long" I guess I'm procrastinating a bit, as I wrote you that instead of making headway on my ethics assignment :/

You may tell them, that you checked and fanned all their contributions that you liked. Which is true, I think. And wish them all the best in getting a medal. :)

I agree. Screw that, who cares if they get mad? They shouldn't be asking me to fan their crappy whoretributions anyways. Thank you, :)

I would be pretty turned off if someone asked me to rate what they added and gave me links. (Not if they want something to be rated on a spot that has like 20 fans and where no one ever rates :/ That would be kinda understandable)
But I understand not everyone is like me, so if you'd like to help them out and make them happy, go for it =]
If you're not sure and if their content is pretty poor/or you don't like it, just don't do anything. Don't reply to their message. It's not like you have to do them a favor.

Basically the spot is something I'm not a fan of anf the content is a bunch of videos that have all been added about the time, so they]re presumably spam......not the sort of thing I"d ever intend to watch even if they weren't.

Thank you, by the way, :) And you're 100% right about the favors. They added me a while back and this is the first time they've ever talked to me...O.o

Nevermind, it was images, not videos....they were just formatter weird, I thought they were videos. Either ways, images I did not like... :/
