how do you get a new icon for your profile?

It's rather simple so don't panic.

1: Find an image that you like, say.. you like soup, go onto goole images type in soup, right click and save as. (recommending saving it somewhere you can find it)

2. uplaod it to your profile, go onto your profile and click the upload photo's button, as shown below.

3. once you have done so tick the 'Make this image my user icon' check box

And hey presto you have a spanking new soup icon.

1. Take your favorite photo or scanned artwork and make sure to save it to the same computer you are using to visit Fanpop.

2. Note where you've saved the image.

3. Image editing is a larger topic, but at this point you can edit the image using your favorite editor (such as GIMP), to make sure that it is square (width should be the same as height). Profile pictures are just like spot logos: square images expected to be between 100 and 300 pixels to a side. You can do larger or smaller, but they won't "read" well as your profile image. The image will be cropped and/or resized if it isn't exactly square. Save it when you've finished.

4. Log on to Fanpop, click "profile" at the upper left.

5.In the section "about me", click the link "upload photos". The page will reload with a form with fields labeled "Upload image*" and "Image Caption: (optional)".

6. Click the "Browse" button and a popup window will appear for the upload.

7. Use the navigation within the popup to find the directory where you saved the image on your computer.

8. Select the correct file, then click the button in the popup window (on windows machines the button is "open")

9. The popup window disappears, showing the "Upload image*:" field filled in with the path and filename of your image. Enter a caption if you like (the caption will not be anywhere on the site other than the "more photos" gallery page in your profile)

10. To make this image your profile picture, check the box next to "Make this image my user icon", then click "Submit image". The page will refresh after loading (and resizing, if necessary), moving your old profile picture to your gallery and replacing it with the picture you've just uploaded.

If you ever want to change your profile picture to a picture already in your image gallery:
A. go back to your profile.
B. Click "more photos" in the "about me" section.
C. Find the picture you want to use and click the little brown-haired user icon underneath it. The page will refresh with the change.

STEP 6. FINALLY click on SUBMIT IMAGE
