The best way to show that you value the content of other users (while at the same time contributing to their medals progress) is to BOTH view and rate their content. If enough people view and rate a given user's content in a given club, that person then gets a medal. You can do your part by viewing and rating their stuff. In addition, I've noticed that commenting on content can start conversations in the comments threads for content, which then results in more views of that content, which then advances the progress for that user to earning a medal.

Now, if you want to more immediately and directly laud a given user for their content, you can use the props feature.

You can not "rate" a spot. The way you earn link is by participating in spots, commenting, posting content, rating content, etc.
