Let me take you back to July 2007, about 2 years ago. Well it was a monday morning during the summer holiday's. I'm standing in my local comic book shop "House of Heroes" taking a look at some of the comic books. Then I noticed my good friend Benji, who used to work there on mondays, he was on his laptop, browsing the web on a very "green" looking website. This was not the first time I had seen this website, as Benji's friend, PkmntrainerJ, was in the shop one day using Benji's laptop. Anyway I stand behind Benji and I think he was doing something on the "Lost" spot, I don't remember. Anyway, I asked him what it was and he said something like, "Oh, it's this awesome website called fanpop, theres like, a different spot for whatever you like." I then said, "What do you mean?" He said "Well you like Dragonball Z, right? well theres a spot for that." Sure enough, he went on to his profile page and clicked on the Dragonball Z picture, and.......... THERE IT WAS. Videos, pictures, quizzes, fanpop had it all. So Benji let me create a profile via his laptop, and thats where it all started.

The profile page page was'nt much but I loved it.

Yep, back then I was a different person, All bar the picture of Yamcha that I reverted to using once more.

It was great! I went home that evening thinking about nothing but Fanpop. The next opportunity I got, I was on the 'net looking at the one message I had got, "benji is a fan of you". I was in the library at the time so I had to make the most of my time. I decided to ask pkmntrainerj to help me with my pokemon emerald game. Sure enough he sent a message back explaining how to get a deoxys or whatever. So my Fanpop journey began. The only problem was I didnt know what to DO on fanpop, so I started out adding DBZ picks, which frieza is cooler? etc. I then learnt from benji that if I uploaded enough content I could be a dedicated fan amd then I learnt from J that if people notice me I could be "Fan of the Fortnight". This, obviously intruigued me, an honour system? How amazing. Thats what I dreamed about for awhile, Winning FOTF, Getting a medal, Getting 100 fans. thats what I wanted, but it was a long, long way away.

Not much happened for a while, until I got into Naruto and joined the spot. That could have honestly been the best time of my life. Late nights arguing about what would have been the best fighting team. between 5 people we'd always manage to get about a hundred comments on one pick within the hour. Those other 4 people know who they are but I'm giving them a shout out.
Coolguy
Hellgirl
Rusty
Deathnote
They were my BFF's and rightly so. no one else stuck in such a close group, It was like we were running the spot at the time. Unfortunatley deathnote said she will never be coming on again, I havent heard from hellgirl since this happened, and the other day I spoke to coolguy for the first time in 3 months.

Something bad then happened, as it does. I thought it would be a great idea to make a spot for New Fans because I thought it would be great to help the Newbies in the scary world of fanpop. This was not met with praise. Arguments broke out, back and forths between users, quite frankly it was horrible, but I went through with it anyway. This developed into a long, drawn out argument on the New Users Forums. Is this spot useful or a waste of space? it's not like I asked them or anything, but they came with their point and put it across. well. I'd like to take this time to thank,
Rusty

For sticking up for me and my cause, but I would also like to appologise to,
Debs
Germany
Shadowflame
Snerkie
And anyone else I offended during that period of time. I regret most of the things that were said and have learnt a lesson. If I am more considerate of the opposition instead of just mouthing something out, then it will be a lot easier to win the debate, as seen in my most recent article. I could have said "Screw all of the popular people", but that wouldnt work. anyway I got over all of that and I hope everyone else did, I know it happened a long time ago but I never did appologise.

So after On and offing for months, I think I may have decided to stay on Fanpop for good. Many of the Original fanpoppers are leaving because, yes, it is a little boring and people just dont take it seriously anymore, but I'm just going to ride this out no matter what. It's pretty hard to tell whats going to happen with fanpop, I mean all of this new stuff and. I know there are a lot of problems but it will work eventually. New fans keep coming and going and the whole place is like one big InJoke for the big contributers, but It should change as long as fanpop keeps coming up with new stuff.

So my dream, 100 fans, A Meadal, Fan of the Fortnight. thats making excellent progress, at the time of writing:

Dragonball Z, Top contributor, only Dedicated fan
96 fans, just 4 more!
And as for fan of the fortnight, It's still a long way to go. I have never won nor even been entered into FOTFN, I guess I need to post more stuff then I could win.

I will win.

Summary: I'm probably one of longest running users who is still active (My 2 year fannniversary is coming up soon), although not very frequent, I think I'm going to be here for a long damn time.

Hey Fanpoppers!

I know I'm still a rookie at this interview thing, but I'm starting to get the hang of it (I think) and to be honest I'm also developing a taste for asking a lot of questions. Muahahaha!..ahem..anyway..

She's a great individual, with interesting ideas, strong beliefs and she's very funny too. She has a way with words that lets her express her opinions very clearly and she's constantly mediating when some situations get out of hand; I'm sure a lot of you have seen it around Fanpop. She's a joy to talk to and most definitely made of awesome.

Anyway, she took some time out from her...

This article is the first of a series, and was most recently updated on 6 March 2008.

I'd been planning on profiling the various people who'd been selected by the Fanpop users as "Fans of the Fortnight" for months, but it was only after link that I took any time to do so. I started my initial inquiries back in January, followed by fact-checking and quote-gathering from other users. The problem was, I figured that news travels fast in the Fanpop world, and I didn't want any recipients feeling slighted that I hadn't asked them for an interview...so I interviewed them all at once. What resulted...

She was just a girl of fifteen, but she had long ago lost that naivety and innocence of girls her age. While her dearest chums spent their days thinking about clothes and their latest crush, she spent her days doing something much differently. She couldn’t tell her friends about it though, they wouldn’t understand. They would criticize and call her horrible names. They’d never accept what she had become. She was completely alone in her secret desires, alone except for the strangers she let into her life each day. It was her need for the approval of those strangers that had caused her...

I decided to write this soapbox for the family of Samantha Callow.

She's a 15 year old girl, which died early Friday morning. Around 3:00 am, this morning while driving her parents car. Her parents didn't know that she had the car.

Who knew that what seemed to be a joyride turned into a deathful situation.

I would like to deticate the sopabox article to the family. And expecially her brother Tom Callow. I knew him really well and He goes to my school. When I heard the terrible news.. I noticed what he was going through today. Just this morning another thing happened.

But this time it happened...

This article was started back in December, and was last edited here on 8 June 2008.

2006 was a tumultuous year for me. In the spring my wife and I discovered that we were pregnant again, and believe me when I say that there are a host of attendant anxieties that come with any pregnancy. How could we fit another person into our already-cramped house? How could we afford to support another? Beyond that, I'd just become the project manager of a pretty high-profile project in the middle of the project, and that had a bunch of issues that I inherited.

In the midst of this, I was invited to participate...
