Why do some people take fan fiction offensively as a canon when it comes to having a fun time?

Because in Deviantart, I've written something about a crossover what if couple of Naruto, But it has to do with konoha High School related because no one can enter the ninja world. Plus, the uchiha clan never gets killed by Itachi. I also made him pair with someone else instead of Izumi, but that's only a fanon couple, not canon.

I guess some people are really stringent in wanting to stick to canon, especially parts of canon they really like. For example, if a particular ship is their OTP, they'd hate to see it dismissed in favour of a fanon ship. Or they'd hate to see their favourite character killed off or vilified.

Speaking of that, I have a comic vine account, and I asked the fans if they want to see a crossover between Dragon Ball and the Marvel Comics, but they were like No! Then, I said something like well I guess I'll have to make a fan fiction then and they were like No! also.

Crossovers are always going to be less popular than regular fan fiction because there are always some fans who don't know or like the other fandom.
