FanFiction.net Question

What the freaking hell is "Critics United"?

Alright. I'm new in FanFiction.net right now. So I don't really get the gravity or this "crisis". I don't actually really know what "Critics United" is, but, from a few fake updates from some of my favourited stories to "spread the message", this is all I understand about them:

-They are a group of supposed "Critics" that will delete stories in which they deem "inappropriate".

-They apparently ruin the definition of the word "Critic" since, according to authors, critics are supposed to point out some flaws in a story and suggest ways for improvement.

-They kind of ruin the motto of FanFiction.net "Unleash you imagination." Since they delete fics that have inappropriate content which, according to some readers, are wonderful.

-Due to the many fake updates I see, and/or extended Author's Notes with so much colourful language, insults and/or protests, not many people like them. Some wonderful - in the eyes of some readers - authors are leaving the site. And I've seen many of these.

If I misunderstood anything, please tell me. And give me a proper understanding of this "Critics United"

Ok, first step. Don't listen to anyone, except for me.

I'll give you the short answer. CU is a group of bullies who think that a story rating MA is a bad thing.

Once they find a quote on quote "inappropriate" story, they nag, and nag the admins into deleting it.

CU also harass writers, making/forcing them into deleting their stories, and if the author doesn't delete the story, they threatened them.

The CU harassment is so bad, that several authors that CU have bothered/threatened/harassed, have committed suicide. Believe me, I should know...Sadly, one of my friends were a victim, and came close to killing himself. He saw within a centimeter of his life, but was saved, luckily.

Hahaha. Yup, you are definitely new. I'll answer your questions one by one.

-No, they can't delete stories. The admins of FanFiction.net do. All they do is report it, which everyone can do. Do you know that FanFiction banned the MA rating? Starting from there, any MA rated stories lurking with the M rated mark is deemed "inappropriate". If you want to find a place with so many "inappropriate" fanfics, then feel free to go to this filthy place called "Archive of Our Own".

-Sadly, I agree with this one. They definitely ruined the definition of "Critics" by flaming stories without any criticism.

-These "readers" are perverts whose mind were tainted with porn at a young age. There is a site for that however. It's called "Adult FanFiction". It's the same as FanFiction.net (since it has the same owner) but this time, it's appropriate only for 18+

-Oh, more rule-breakers leaving the site? That's wonderful! On a more serious note, these authors were reported by Critics United were breaking the rules of FanFiction.net. If you are using FanFiction.net for free, then the least you can do is to abide by the rules.

Archive of Our Own is NOT a filthy place. I think you confuse it with Adult Fanfiction.org. That's the site where you can post fan fics containting explictit content.

Yeah, THAT too. Both are very explicit. Okay, Archive of Our Own might not be a filthy place as it has a lot of well-written stories, but you got to admit: it definitely isn't kid-friendly. After all, how did AO3 become so popular? It's because of the purge in Fanfiction. So many hardcore in these websites (AO3 & FF). It is understandable for Adult Fanfiction. That's why it's called "Adult" right?
