________ 8 ________
It was about Twelve o' clock in the morning; Well, atleast I thought it was.
My eyelids were drooping heavily, My body was so weak I felt like just dying. "Courtney. Where exactly are we going?" Gwen yawned. "Back to Arizona. Where else?" I mumbled.
"Courtney... Maybe we should just stop for the night?" Duncan suggested. "Okay. Sure." I agreed.
We landed and set up camp. I ordered Geoff to get some wood and Bridgette to find some water. Gwen said she would follow Along with Bridgette just in case 'someone' were to make a stop.
I sighed as I put up the finishing touches of my tent.
Why did something so good? Have to end so bad? I wondered to myself time from time.
"Courtney. What exactly happened with Trent?" Duncan said; pulling me up from my work. "Duncan... It doesn't matter anymore. He's gone." I whispered.
"Ride, It does matter. When he comes back; I want to be there and protect you." He pressed his lips against mine for a short second and pulled away. "Now, Tell me." He commanded.
Err, There was no way to beat him.
I sighed and sat down," When I went into the Tent, the whole place was covered in a blanket of mist. I yelled for Trent for about five minutes until I heard him yell for me. So I found him... But, he wasnt exactly him. He looked like some cómic book character from a cheesy superhero movie. He told me that I was a fool for being with you." I stopped, when I felt Duncan tense up. "Look, Maybe we should just stop for the night. I'll tell you the rest tomorrow." I suggested.
"Fine. But, you have to tell me." I sighed and stood slowly to pull him into a long kiss.
I heard some snickers from the other side of the site, I quickly pulled away and looked around. Soon three figures came out of the darkness. "Bridge!" I yelled, I felt heat rise to my cheeks.
"Ohh, La La." She teased. "Maybe we shouldve gave you guys a few more minutes." Geoff chuckled. I growled and grabbed the wood and water out of their hands and started fixing up the Campfire.
After a few hours of working, I plopped myself into my tent and closed my eyes for a few minutes.
Courtney's Dream:
"Courtney. Wake up." Duncan whispered in my ear. I moaned and turned around,"Leave me the fuck alone,Duncan." I replied, drowsy. He sighed and mumbled something I didn't quite catch.
I soon felt his arms wrap around my waist; pulling me up and out of the Tent.
I felt a a bright light shine across my eyelids, I forced my eyes open and saw that there were about four helicopters spinning around, Two crashed into eachother and persihed into bits of metal and sparks.
"Whats happening?!" I yelled over the commotion.
There were bombs being thrown and weapons being fired. The yells of the officers were frightening, and bone-chilling. They were telling them to kill all bird hybrids.
My eyes widened as I saw Bridgette on the ground; I jumped out of Duncan's arms and ran over to her; Tears streaming down my face.
As soon as I saw Bridgette, I screamed. Her face was completely blown off. The bloody mess was covered in gore and guts. "No! Bridgette!" I shrieked.
I felt a warm hand on my shoulder, I turned around and saw Duncan. His eyes full of tears; "Im so sorry. I tried to help her, But it was just to-" He was soon cut off by a blade being inserted into his chest. His teal eyes widened as he managed to choke out three little words. "I love you."
End of dream.
I Woke up; a mask of sweat building on my forhead. I rubbed my eyes and felt water.
"Just a dream. Just a dream." I reassured myself. "Courtney!" Duncan yelled through my tent. "Open up!"
I did as I was told and unzipped the flap. Duncan's eyes were flooded with tears.
"Duncan, Whats wrong?!" I asked; On the verge of tears. "Its.. It's Bridgette.." He said.
No. Please don't let it be what I think it is. I ran out of the tent and saw Bridgette in front of the campfire. I hesitated. "Bridge?" My voice quivered silently.
I grabbed her shoulder and turned her around; Letting a scream exscape my mouth.
Bridgette's entire face had been sculpted into a horrific scene. Every inch of her once beautiful face was melted.
"No..." I whispered and hugge her lifeless body.
I wanted to scream to the heavens and demand Bridgette back. But, There was no use. Bridgette Jacobs was gone.
