Dogs Question

HELP!! If you have a female dog (spaded) what would happen if you add a male puppy?

Ok so for my dads bday we put a female puppy on hold. We already have one crazy female dog (Sadie- a pudle pointer (pronounced poodle)). The dog we were looking at was a Gordon setter. We were second on the list. The puppies were born on the 24 and there were 3 with only one female. The guy says that we might be able to get one of the males but we don't no how my dog would react to a male.
So which would be a better pair female and male or female and female?

The first dog i got, which i still have her, is a german shepherd and shes all grown up(when we got her too, her story will be saved for a nother day) and then we got a male puppy (the girls, Luna is her name, is spayed already) and he plays with her and stuff but he also tries to...... hump...... her legs. then we got another male puppy. It would probably be better to get two females, but let them get to know each other. A male could go with a female but it would be better if the male was neutered. he would calm down a bit. But i think it would be better to get two females. Also if you get any puppy, bring like a towel, or a blanket to the home before you bring the puppy home with you, then bring the towel with you back to your home, so the puppy still has a smell of where it was born. Good luck!
