[Bolt’s Point of View]
Once Penny attached the leash to my collar, we walked out of the house and started our walk. We were only a few seconds into our walk when Ryan walked up next to us with Maria. What were the odds, I thought. I never expected Maria to appear at this time. While Ryan and Penny began talking, Maria was in her own thoughts. I finally decided to break the silence by saying, “So, how are you enjoying your day?”
“Pretty good,” Maria answered, “Listen, I’m sorry about that little mishap. I just don’t know what had gotten into me.”
“It’s alright. If I were you, I might have done the same thing.”
“Still, a little too soon don’t you think?”
“I’m sure, but you just had no control over yourself. I understand completely. So, what brings you here?”
“My person’s father got a job near here and we lived all the way in Georgia.”
“Whoa! That is a long way. Across the country in fact.”
“I know. I was hard to leave my friends there, but there were some dogs I couldn’t wait to get away from.”
“Like who?”
Maria was silent for a minute before she said, “I don’t want to talk about it.”
“Oh. Okay.”
“So why aren’t you on the show anymore?”
“Now that is a story I’ve been dying to tell. Did you happen to notice my ‘acting’?”
“Yes…”
“I wasn’t acting; I thought the whole thing was real!”
“No way!”
“Yes way! When they captured Penny, ran all around the studio looking for her, but somehow wound up in New York by mistake!”
“What?! How did that happen?”
“I ran into a window thinking that I would smash right through it, but it knocked me out and I fell into a box that was to be delivered there.”
“Ouch! So then what happened?”
“I ran into Mittens, who I believed was one of Calico’s agents. She led me home, but we stopped by a trailer park on the way. That’s where we met Rhino, who unknowingly told Mittens that my superpowers were fake. After an unexpected trip to the pound (don’t ask) Mittens taught me how to act like a real dog. We did manage to get to Hollywood, but not without getting into a heated argument. It was there that the company Penny was working with tried to continue the series without me, but that backfired on them.
“Let me guess… the fire?”
“Exactly. Luckily for them, no one got killed or seriously wounded, but we did end up quitting.”
“Good thing. I can’t imagine working with people like that.”
“Well, now I won’t have to.”
“So, do you happen to have any plans for tomorrow?”
“As a matter of fact, I plan to give this new dog that just moved in across the street a private tour of the country.”
“Are you asking me out?”
“Is is it working?”
“Why yes… yes it is.”
