How do you feel about the early version of Mickey Mouse entering the public domain?

Most of you may have heard about the early shorts starring Mickey Mouse (like Steamboat Wille) being in the public domain on this year, but how do you feel about it? For me, I have mixed feelings about it because it would be great for me to use the early Mickey Mouse as an easter egg/cameo reference like having a character holding a plush of Steamboat Willie Mickey as an example, but I'm not that happy about Mickey getting the same treatment as poor Winnie the Pooh by making him a serial killer in some horror projects that were already planned to be made like a film titled "Mickey's Mouse Trap" and a game called "Infestation 88" like seriously? I'm already sick of this horror trend by turning innocent beloved characters who are in or not in public domain into serial killers which this have already "destroyed" the public domain for me, but I know it allows you to create anything relating to works or characters who have been in the public domain for years and if you agree with me, you may left an answer below to my question to tell me your opinion on it.
