Disney Question

Am I the only one not disappointed by the newer Disney movies and CGI?

I actually enjoy the most recent Disney Movies. Big Hero 6, Tangled and Frozen are my three favorite movies. But everyone is complaining about everything to do with the modern movies and they keep on saying Disney should go back to hand drawn movies calling them "lazy". While I still enjoy hand drawn movies I enjoy cgi a little more. I understand why they switched and I think the stories and characters better fit the modern generation. I just feel embarrassed admitting this though...

You're not the only one. Tangled, Inside Out, and Big Hero 6 are some of my favorite Disney movies (Tangled is my favorite), and I love how detailed CGI can be.

No, you are not. I love CGI Disney movies too.
I respect opinions of people who like old hand drawn movies more, they have every right to like them. However, calling CGI lazy is not good. While CGI animation may be slightly easier to make than hand-drawn animation, it depends on person's determination and hard work whetever the animation looks good or not. Hating something just because is new is even worse. Is like liking old person and hating on young person, even through that old person is a jerk while young person is a nice guy. 90s, 80s and so on had bad movies too, again, it depends on person's determination and how much work they give to the project.
Again, i don't have anything against people who like old hand drawn Disney movies, but only if they have open mind and can admit that what they like isn't perfect niether.

I didn't like Meet the Robinsons, but I like their newer CGI movies (Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen) and I think they've come a long way with 3D animation in terms of quality over the past decade. CGI is still a pretty new form of animation (considering 2D hand-drawn has been around and filmed for over a century) and even a major company like Disney is still learning, but personally I think they've been improving and they're probably learning new little tricks with every movie they make.

Also, CGI animation is not lazy. You still have to carefully rig every single frame, and there are still 24 frames to each second. Just putting that out there for those who think animation is done by computers. ;)

And hey, don't feel embarrassed about it! There are so many techniques when it comes to animation, all beautiful in their own ways, and I think they all need to be appreciated! :D
