Both are very loyal to their families and traditions.

Someone not as serious as Tiana( but I think Mulan would relate to Tiana in some ways) but not very childish. Also she would value strong convictions and willingness to fight for them and family values.

They are both sixteen, and growing up. Their movies are already pointing toward their achievement of self-actualization.

Mulan doesn't have that much in common with Merida. Mulan isn't interested in remaining single. People think Mulan loves tradition, but I don't think she does. Mulan loves her family, true, but she is more likely to follow the impetus of her heart over their say-so. Moana and Poca are more home-based, and more traditional. Mulan is not.

Mulan is more like Ariel. She went out to make herself a whole person.
