Triton's main goal is to protect Ariel, while the Sultan just wants to get Jasmine married.

I believe the Sultan wanted Jasmine "well cared for" because he was "feeling" his own age. The Sultan wasn't openly nasty to his daughter.

Triton primarily rules everything ( even his home life) with an iron fist. Triton objects to everything his daughter is interested in--- and simply wants her to sing for crowds and get married to a merman.

My dad is a lot like Triton, so I'd know how to deal with him.

Easily. Triton loves his daughter immensely and wants to do everything he can to keep her safe and happy. When he finds out she's in love, it even makes him giddy. <3

Sultan loves his daughter immensely as well but Triton is a much more balanced person, smarter, braver and more understanding than Sultan. While Triton gives his daughter a very loose leash to explore her individuality and freedom, Sultan keeps his daughter on a very tight leash and does not allow her to explore her kingdom in any way. Both are very loving, protective and caring though. :D

Both are a good father for their daughters, but Sultan seems more caring to Jasmine. Though Triton was actually really care with Ariel too but sometimes he was kinda protective.
