Megara.

I have always had a soft spot for "Meg" and never understood why she wasn't part of the line up. She was in a great run of the 90s and I thought she had good character development. I also find her to be unique in the DP line up, she would add her own uniqueness. (I also love the film Hercules as much as I love DP films whereas I don't love the other films on this list, except Peter Pan, as much as the DP films.)

Giselle, maybe?

Esmeralda , also Kida and Eilonwy who are princesses

Esmeralda and Megara, for sure. I don't seem to "feel" so much for Giselle, but she is as much of a princess as Anna and Elsa are in their stand alone "movie" so, whatever.

I think Esmeralda would probably fit in nicely and add to the diversity that people are screaming for these days. Maybe Meg also.
I love Jane, Giselle, and Kida, but I can understand why they aren't DPs.

MalloMar: I never understood how people felt that Esmeralda would add that much diversity so perhaps you can help me out. She's from France just like Belle so how would she add diversity? I understand her skin color is darker but that is indicative of France since the people in Northern France are lighter since they are closer to Germany & England and the people in Southern France are darker since they are closer to Spain & the Mediterranean but they are both French so how is one more diverse than the other? Not trying to be rude, just trying to understand.

UnholyNoise: Since Tiger Lily is the daughter of the Chief, she is as much a princess as Pocahontas.
Jane is as much a princess as Cinderella, Belle & Tiana in that she married a prince because Tarzan was prince of the Apes until Kerchak(?) died and he became king and Jane as queen.

I chose those 4 options because they are all actual princesses.

About my Giselle comment, I retract what I said about "actual" princess. She never married Prince Edward, Nancy did, so technically Nancy would be the real "princess" and not Giselle.

^people are only thinking of her race. disney fans don't seem to care about culture much (which is real diversity), only skin color. but she COULD add cultural diversity with her Roma heritage at least.

that said, I think she's too sexual for kids and I understand why they took her out of the lineup. Jane would be PERFECT. She's no less a royal than Mulan and her personality is very appropriate for little kids with some wit there for adults to like too. Eilonwy is my personal preference because I like her maybe the most of the two of them, but I think she would bore little kids. there's a lot of reasons why she's never been added and while I like her, I understand them.

Giselle is a two dimensional parody of several princesses so I don't know why so many people want her in there. she's never felt like a real character to me at all. and it's weird that usually the same people who hate the princesses she's based on like her.

AudreyFreak: Thank you for answering my question. Did you mean race or ethnicity? I thought she was the same race as Belle but perhaps different ethnicity/culture. That being said, I agree Esmeralda is too sexual for kids and I also understand why she was taken out of the line up. (I also think the film was too extreme for children as well.)

The only reason I know of for Eilonwy not to be added was that The Black Cauldron didn't do too well financially and has some dark themes. I think she should be added to though, the first real "feisty"-type princess. I agree with what you said about Jane and I think she's more royal than Mulan, personally. Do you know why she wasn't added to the DP line up or Megara when both their films were part of that Renaissance run?

lililc: No worries, I understand you now. I'm sorry, I thought you were implying all 3 were "actual" princesses. I didn't realize they were 2 separate claims.

Because Jane looks like Belle, Tiger Lilly looks like Pocahontas, and Eilonway looks like Aurora.
