Loving this movie.
Loving this movie.
Okay, I was watching the 2012 version of Les Miserables last night and I had seen the 2015 reboot of Cinderella last month. Both movies have a common theme with each other: Forgiveness. The characters also play a similar traits to each other.

Cinderella

While watching this movie last month, I keep thinking that the story reminds me of Les Miserables! Aside from the same filming location of France, certain scenes and characters remind of some characters from Les Miserables.
For example, during the scene after Lady Tremaine and the 2 stepsisters called Ella by her trademark name, Cinderella. The latter went to the kitchen and cried, that moment reminds me of I Dreamed a Dream where Fantine sings about her dream gets turn into a nightmare, the same with Ella.
Lady Tremaine and her daughters reminds me of Madame Thenadier and Eponine respectively, especially during Castle on a Cloud and On my Own during the dress ripping scene and the fitting the glass scene respectively.
Prince Kit reminds me of Marius and Enjolras because he played a most proactive role in the movie, the same with the latter. Kit's and Ella's dad reminds me of Monsieur Gillenormand and Valjean respectively, sadly Ella's dad died and he only gets like 30 minutes of screen-time in the beginning.
Finally, as Ella and Kit were about to leave, the former forgives her stepmother for her abusive tendencies towards Ella, sadly they were exiled along with the Grand Duke for attempting conspiracy.

Les Miserables

Okay, as I mentioned, certain things reminds me of Cinderella. The latter reminds me of lot of Cossette, because both of them are cheerful and optimistic, it was only during the abusive scene with her stepmother and Madame Thenadier that we have no choice but to feel sorry for them!
Javert reminds me of the Grand Duke due to their authoritarian tendencies, the only difference is that the latter is also like a chameleon like Hans. While the former is very straightforward, the grand duke was banished in the end for conspiracy while Javert chose death as his option.
Valjean also forgives Javert, because although the latter was doing his job. Valjean believes that forgiving will change him, but it did not and poor Javert committed suicide as mentioned.

I Dreamed a Dream

Well, this is another interesting comparison after Phantom of the Opera with Beauty and the Beast. Hope that you guys see the movie and the stage version of Les Miserables, then you will know what I meant.
