The Current Princesses
With 11 official Disney Princess and two more to join in the upcoming year, I've decided to create a countdown of my Top 11 favorite Disney Princesses. While Anna and Elsa will join in 2014, I'm just going to focus on the ones we currently have - besides, I've only seen Frozen once. So without further ado, let's begin!

ApplesauceDoctr's Favorite Disney Princesses

11. Aurora
While Sleeping Beauty was one of my favorite movies from childhood, Aurora herself never truly stood out to me. In her short runtime she walks around the forest and sings - and even though she has a beautiful voice, there's not much else for me to say about her. Even when she's on screen I get rather bored. It's unfortunate for the lovely Aurora that she isn't given much time in her own movie, and that really brings her down this list.

10. Pocahontas
Pocahontas just isn't my favorite movie nor do I find her to be interesting. She's fun in the first half or so of the movie when she's running around, kayaking and singing about the colors of the wind. I admire her bravery in the climax - and you all know what I'm talking about when she's sacrificing her life for the one she loves. She's determined to see peace between her people and the explorers, even when the odds are against her. However, besides these elements (they're great elements, don't get me wrong), not much else is there to Pocahontas. She loses her fun in the second half or so of the movie and even before that she wasn't too interesting. At least not for my taste.

9. Merida
I was really looking forward to Brave and I liked it! At least I did the first time I watched it. Over the year it's not so much my favorite anymore. Merida proves to be a free spirit, wanting to do things her way instead of the ways she's expected to. That's pretty admirable - she was brave (hehe puns) in standing up for herself and going to all the trouble of trying to control her destiny. And did I mention the hair? Good gracious it's amazing!
And sadly, that's where my positive remarks end. I was a little upset that Merida wasn't quite as action-packed and awesome as I thought she would be, but I guess that's my fault. I wasn't too big a fan of the idea of her inadvertantly transforming her mom into - well, you know. I realize that Merida didn't know what she had done and by the end she learns her lesson and the value of family, but something about that whole situation just rubbed me the wrong way.

8. Snow White
It seems that not too many of us favor Snow White, and I guess I can understand why - she's a bit of the archetypal princess; she waits for her prince to rescue her, she sings in a voice that sounds a tad too old for modern liking, and she isn't too strong. However I'm willing to look past those and see Snow White for what she is - a young and caring princess. She willingly runs away from home because she's quite aware that the queen is after her. Talk about bravery! And notice how scared she was of the forest. She didn't run back for fear of the forest; she kept on going. And when she finds shelter, she does her best to pay off by cleaning and cooking. That may not sound like much, but the fact that Snow White would go to all that work and still be happy and kind (much like Cinderella) is something I find positive. Then why is Snow so low on the list? I simply find other princesses to be more memorable.

7. Jasmine
I like Jasmine. She was one of our first power-princesses, if you will. She wasn't pleased with the life she had and she was bound to find a new one and be happy. I admire her courage into going forward with that plan because she was entering a whole new world (hehe, more puns!) which she wasn't familiar with. Thankfully it all worked out for the best.
With Jasmine, there aren't too many negative things to say. I realize that this isn't her movie, and even so, she is still a likeable and fun character. Maybe a little more character development would have been nice, but with what we're given, Jasmine is one of those princesses I like.

6. Belle
Ah, Belle. What's not to like about Belle? She's kind, forgiving, able to see the good in others, and she even took her father's place and accepted the fact that she'd be imprisoned for the rest of her life. (Thankfully that's not what ended up happening!) I still think that these qualities make Belle a memorable and likeable princess. I wish there was more to say about Belle, but that's alright - what's been said is good enough. ;D

Belle (Beauty and the Beast)

5. Mulan
Is she a princess? No. Is she a Disney Princess? Yes!
I think there's something about each princess that makes her stand out, but even moreso with Mulan. She is the one who takes her dad's place in the army to not only keep him safe, but to be her true self and to find out what that true self is. Once again, I admire her bravery. I can't really say I relate to Mulan, but if she's awesome that's good enough for me.
While Merida is another one who has an outdoorsy skill (archery), I still prefer Mulan, for her clever thinking and skill when it comes to defeating the Huns in war.

4. Ariel
I can't imagine disliking Ariel. She's so...fun! :D Out of all of the princesses Ariel is definitely one of the most interesting. She is very curious about the world above and doesn't let anything prevent her from learning more about it. You could argue that she wasn't satisfied with her life - because come on she did have a good life! Trading your mermaid tail for legs? What are you, crazy? I could wonder about that too, but Ariel knows what she wants and, like I said, she won't let anything get in the way from her goals, her dreams, her wishes. Her determination, fun personality, and whimsical-ness (hurray for made up words!) make Ariel a standout from the others.

3. Cinderella
Is it strange that Aurora and Snow White are at the bottom of the list, but Cinderella's in the Top 3? I think there's a certain gracefulness (is that even a word?) about Cinderella that I like in comparison to the other two. Cinderella, like Snow White, puts up with so much work almost all her life and yet she's still kind, caring, and happy. Maybe not super happy, but still, happy. I also love her voice - it's so calm and lovely. I don't think any other Disney Princess is more deserving of her happily ever after than Cinderella. I wish I could explain more about why I like her so much, but I guess she's just too great for words. ;D

2. Rapunzel
Much like Ariel, I can't imagine anyone disliking Rapunzel. Rapunzel is a free spirit who wants to know more about the world, which makes sense since she was locked away from it for so long. Speaking of long, her hair is awesome.
Rapunzel is so fun and adventurous, as well as determined. Nothing is going to stop her from reaching her dream, and throughout the movie she proves to be nothing but likeable, interesting, and understanding of others. Rapunzel - what's not to like?

1. Tiana
And my favorite of all is Princess Tiana! I really find her movie to be underrated, but I'm glad that I found Fanpop because it seems like she gets the attention she deserves. :D Tiana is one of if not the most hardworking princess(es), for she's been looking forward to having her own restaurant for almost all of her life and has been working so much in order to make that dream come true. I think that's really inspiring. Not only that, but I like seeing her progress throughout the movie - at first she's just hardworking and maybe "a stick in the mud", but she learns to have a little fun and to bring more love into her life. I overall just love Tiana, and I'm glad to see that her and her movie are receiving more attention as the years go on.

And that's the end of the article! Thank you so much for reading my very first article, and I hope to see you again in upcoming articles. I'll plan on updating this countdown next year when Anna and Elsa officially enter the lineup. Until then, see you later!

Now that I am done with school I can finally write my ranking of the Disney Princesses. These are just my personal opinions. It is ok if you disagree with my list but please no rude comments.

13. Merida

I really can't stand Merida. I haven't been Brave in 3 years but I don't want to see it again. I think she is rude, bratty, & obnoxious. Moving on.

12. Elsa

I'm not an Elsa fan. I don't find her very likeable. She just irritates me. I don't really know what else to say.

11. Anna

I like her better than Else no doubt but she doesn't do much for me. I hated the line she when she said she is gassy....

I guess most of you must have heard by now the news about the Frozen sequel. I'm pretty excited about it, but I do hope they have a good plot for it and don't just do it for the sake of selling more merchandise or finding Elsa a prince too (not that I'm against Elsa having a prince, but I don't think it is absolutely necessary for the story, she can also be happy and rule the kindgdom without one).

Anyway I have an idea for the sequel's plot and I'd like to share it with you guys.

If there is to be a sequel, I think this is a good opportunity to explore the origin of Elsa's powers. I think the...

There is a basic flaw that every Disney Princess shares in the Disney Princess lineup: selfishness. Each Disney Princess displays selfishness, whether it bothers you enough or no, whether you can spot it or no. But it is there. The idea that only one Disney Princess is selfish is a fallacy. They all are. So from a flaw discussion point, this particular unsavory trait belongs to everyone.

That said, other traits of character are present in the DPs besides the “inherent” selfishness quality. I am going to go down the line, one-by-one, and discuss the selfishness of...

Back to my Character In Review series with another one of my favorites, Pocahontas! I was originally planning on doing them in chronological order, but I decided to go in order of favorites instead because that seemed more interesting. I'm also going to structure this a little bit differently than my last one, but I hope you still enjoy ^^ Anyway, without further ado, the article!

Pocahontas is great in many ways, but I think there was one instance that really struck me as remarkable, and solidified my love for her. That scene is the one when Nakoma tells Pocahontas that she sent Kocoum...

And the fan of the month of August is... PrueFever! Yaaaaaay! Congratulations, you deserved it. Now, the questions.

Congratulations on being the Fan of the Month of August 2014! How do you feel about it?

Great, really great! But also a little bit weird. I’ve been on Fanpop since 2011, so I’m definitely one of the ”old” users here on Fanpop. But I think the reason I haven’t been Fan of the Month is because I haven’t been that active on the DP Spot in some time, so a lot of Fanpoppers didn’t know about me. But then I started to upload some Screencaps and that got me some new friends...

Hola! As most of you probably know, I have taken the liberty of restarting fan of the month after a few months of inactivity due to Crazy_Rawr's absence. This is the first FOTM interview in months and it's with Tygers_Eye, FOTM for May. MalloMar provided the questions. Well, here's the long awaited interview :)

1. Congratulations! How does it feel to be Fan of the Month?

A little surprising. I just learned that I won Fan of the Month for May 2014. Since's it's now October, I imagine my shock.

2. Your favorite Princess and why?

Princess Tiana. I think she has a great combination of admirable...

Well, I've already re-done my my first article, My Favorite Disney Princesses, so I thought I would re-do my second one. I won't re-do all of my articles, but I wanted to re-do some of my earlier ones, because my opinions have changed and my writing style has improved throughout the articles I've written, it's not just because I'm running out of articles, and I promise that I'll have my next soundtrack review up soon, (wow, this article is old, I just came back to it and realized this was here. XD. I should get back to the soundtrack reviews though, so just keep reading that.) I'm still trying...
