'Dark Matter' Renewed Or Cancelled By SyFy? Ratings For New Show Could Indicate Answer

Will SyFy\'s new series "Dark Matter" be renewed or cancelled? There still is no word on whether or not the network will let the show continue with a Season 2, but the ratings could give an indication.

Nielsen ratings revealed that the series premiere on Friday, June 12 had 1.279 million viewers. However, the numbers dropped to just 0.980 viewers for the most recent episode airing on Friday, Aug. 7.

Regardless of the drop in numbers, the dedicated fans are showing their support on the official Facebook fan page. Check out some of their comments below:

The series, based on the comic book of the same name by Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie, follows the crew of six people on a spaceship that have awakened with no memories of who they are or how they got on board the ship, identifying themselves not with names but with numbers.

Against many obstacles, the group works together to survive — as the hidden truth gradually emerges. The cast includes Marc Bendavid, Melissa O\'Neil, Anthony Lemke, Alex Mallari Jr, Jodelle Ferland, Roger Cross and Zoie Palmer.

Seriable pointed out that the show is scheduled to have panels at Toronto\'s Fan Expo on Sept. 3. They believe this event may put pressure on SyFy to make their big decision soon.

In the most recent episode, Four abandoned the ship to embark on a mission to reclaim his past. In episode 10, the crew will take on a job stealing a device from a rival corporation, but another team of mercenaries may have the same goal.

Catch the next episode of "Dark Matter" on Friday, Aug. 14 at 10 p.m. on SyFy.
