When Shaw was talking about him and Sarah both making the mistake of falling in love with spies, did he mean Chuck or Bryce?

In 3.05, Shaw said that he and Sarah both made the mistake of falling in love with spies. I was wondering if he was talking about Sarah and Chuck or Sarah and Bryce, because the spy Shaw married ended up dying and it was his fault. Is he talking about Bryce because he died too, or Chuck because Chuck and Sarah's feelings could wind up getting Chuck killed?.....
