Here's some stuff I remembered seeing:
Lamb of God & Black Veil Brides Top Nineteen New Bands Joining Download Festival 2015 Line Up
In news that should surprise no one, Andy Copping and his team at Live Nation / Download HQ have managed to squeeze out a new Download Festival 2015 line up announcement before Christmas. And in the true spirit of Christmas, it’s a whopper, with a very impressive 19 (nineteen) new bands announced to join the lines of Muse, Judas Priest and Slipknot at Donington in 2015.
Topping off this announcement is the return of Virginia’s finest metal export Lamb of God. After taking most of 2014 off for a deserved and earned recharge of the batteries following frontman Randy Blythe’s manslaughter trial acquittal, Lamb of God will be returning to Donington on the Sunday of Download 2015. This appearance will see Lamb of God appearing directly before second stage headliners Enter Shikari in a slightly more intimate setting than Lamb of God have been at Download for many years (2005 in the Snickers Tent by our reckoning)!
Alongside Lamb of God’s return there are many other big hitting acts; Rock legend Billy Idol will be returning to Download for the first time since 2010 to take up a main stage slot as part of Classic Rock Sunday directly underneath Slash and Myles Kennedy, while the politically charged punk rock of Rise Against can once again be found at Download in 2015. No longer adorned with quite the same level of make up and stage attire but still courting controversy wherever they go, Black Veil Brides will be back at Download for next year’s festival. The Brides have had this to say about their impending return to Donington:
We are absolutely honoured to once again have the opportunity to play on rocks biggest stage at the Download festival 2015! We’ve always had a blast and we are looking to make our third time the best one yet! Seeya Saturday!
One major Download debut set to take place in 2015 is that of Bostonian US platinum selling rockers Godsmack, who will be making their UK festival bow next year. The aptly named Eagles Of Death Metal are another act who’ll be breaking their Download cherry in 2015, as will Ice T’s infamous rap metal group Body Count. More debuts come in the shape of metalcore outfit Northlane, the heavily hyped Crown The Empire and hardcore veterans Madball.
Want more big names? Then how about Australian masters of metalcore Parkway Drive and US hardcore legends Every Time I Die. Even more? Good job Download have booked the stoner rock ultimate groove of Clutch and Californian rap rockers Hollywood Undead. An unexpected but most welcome return to Download in 2015 comes in the shape of Scandinavian punk rockers Backyard Babies, while those of a darker, more horror filled persuasion will welcome to return of Motionless In White. Backyard Babies’ fellow Scandinavians H.E.A.T will also be bringing their brand of Nordic flavoured rock to Download 2015.
Last but not least, there are two bands flying the homegrown flag in this announcement; current UK rock scene favourites Mallory Knox (who are also headlining Takedown Festival 2015) and Guitar Hero & UK power metal favourites Dragonforce.
All of these bands join headliners Slipknot, Muse and KISS and their special guests
, not to mention many other bands, at the 2015 Download Festival taking place at Donington Park Racecourse from the 10th – 14th of June (bands 12th-14th). Get your tickets and all the other information you’ll ever need at www.downloadfestival.co.uk. Stay tuned for every more new acts for Download 2015 as we move into the new year!
