Ok well I just can't choose!! It completely depends on my mood. If I'm in a happy song and dance mood or I need cheering up then I'll put on OMWF. But if I'm in a moochy angsty kinda mood I'll go for The Body. I think that makes sense, I just can NOT choose the one that I prefer.

OMWF... I always choose dancing and singing over tears and misery. At least usually.

This was cruel, just cruel!

I only pick the body because Once more with feeling was the only buffy dvd my mum would let me take and then I got my 7 year old and 4 year old cousins hooked on it so I had to watch it about 5 billion times (not that I was complaining :P)

It was kind of funny to watch them dance to Under your spell....:P

But anyway I think I've had enough of that episode for a little while

Please don't kill me, but I think The Body is a bit overrated ;) I don't know why, but I didn't like it very much. And Once More With Feeling is my absolute favorite! Such a great episode!

i LOOOVE both these episodes!!! they are two of my favorite BtVS episodes. i think the body is such an incredible episode and it was SOOO well made and really captures the feelings one has after a loved one dies. it's such a small part of the episode- but the part when buffy goes into the kitchen and you hear an ice cream truck pass by and then she throws up...it's genius! only someone who has experienced the loss of someone close to them can understand how strange and uncomfortable and nauseating and heartbreaking it physically and emotionally is when someone dies- and how hard it is to understand that the rest of the world just continues on as if nothing happened (like the ice cream truck).

but ultimately i chose OMWF because it's not COMPLETELY depressing. i can't watch the body too often because it makes me cry sooooo much and it's emotionally draining. but OMWF on the other hand- it is so depressing yet so uplifting at the same time! only joss whedon can manage to take such intense emotions and stressful situations (willow and tara: being so in love but then realizing your girlfriend you are in love with is messing with your memory and your mind, giles and buffy: caring so much about your mentee/daughter figure- yet realizing you need to leave in order for her to relearn how to be independent, buffy: keeping a secret from your friends that they ruined your life by tearing you out of heaven and feeling so lifeless yet being unable to tell anyone, spike and buffy: having the girl you love treat you like crap yet you are scared to cut her out of your life because you want her there but you need to stand up for yourself and demand respect)

only joss whedon can take these intense, emotional, and heart wrenching storylines and turn them into fun songs and dances!

^^ Wow! I agree with all of that. I think some people don't appreciate the episode as it should be appreciated because it's genius is so subtle. I think it helps if you've lost somebody you were really close to because it's impossible to fully grasp what it feels like until you do. The scene that jemgrl323 mentioned with the ice cream truck going by and Buffy throwing up is on of my favorite parts of the episode because of it's sheer genius for the exact reasons that she said. Another part that I really love is Anya's monologue.

Anya: "But I don't understand! I don't understand how this all happens. How we go through this. I mean I knew her, and then she's, there's just a body, and I don't understand why she can't just get back in it and not be dead anymore. It's stupid. It's mortal and stupid, and, and Xander is crying and not talking, and I was having fruit punch and I thought, well, Joyce will never have any more fruit punch, ever. And she'll never have eggs, or yawn, or brush her hair, not ever and no one will explain to me why."

For me, this is the most powerful piece of dialogue in the episode because Anya, in her own unique way, brings up a questions that I think we all asks ourselves, especially when faced with the death of a loved one. Why do people die? What is the point? Unfortunately it's a question that none of us can really answer. All we can do is accept death as an inevitable part of life.

I also chose OMWF because it's not completely depressing. Joss takes very serious issues that the characters are dealing with, and turns them into fun catchy show tunes (that get stuck in my head every time I watch OMWF). I still love this episode no matter how many times I watch it!

Joss Whedon = GOD :)
