19th century, the Victorian era. Tim Burton said he did not want to make it too clear in the film, but as he said it is set "somewhat in the end of the victorian era“. In another version of Sweeney Todd, the action does take place in the 18th century ("The Tale of Sweeney Todd"), however, the legend of Sweeney Todd first appeared in the Victorian penny dreadful "String of Pearls", so I think the 19th century is more a good of an answer for you. ;) .. hope this was not too confusing, haha. over a year ago

As soon as i watched this film for the very first time i loved it, awesome and not scary at all, apart from the meat pies and slaughtering but everything else is ok. And i can't believe that someone actually did it ages ago :) Posted over a year ago
