I did. Twice, in fact. The first time, the problem wasn't fully rectified so I had to get them again. It used to hurt when the dentist (read: scary man) tightened the brackets. Ouch.
I never have. Heh, I remember in secondary school everyone in my class at some point or another was going to the orthodontist, and I remember panicking thinking that - whatever an orthodontist was, I didn't know - it was something everyone was supposed to do at our age and I wondered why I hadn't done it yet!
Then when I found out what it was I suddenly wasn't so worried.
My brother has braces though. He's coming towards the end of it now - he's had them for years and gone through all sorts of different kinds, now he only needs to wear a retainer during the night (he takes them off before breakfast then puts them back in after dinner). So I don't know what it's like to have braces but I've seen someone else go through all the different steps.
Not anymore, but I had them on for 5 years, starting when I was in 4th grade...it was awful, but at least I got them off while my classmates were just getting theirs so I was all wise and stuff with perfect teeth!
Thank god for that! No offense! But when I had braces I was forced to wear some elastics on my teeth that made my jaw grow the wrong way but it doesn't look so bad so I'm relieved but I have to go under surgery sometime to get it fixed
