I say yes because 1. even the Amon fight scenes were dribbled with Makorra, 2. Most of the non-showdown scenes had some Makorra or references to it, and 3. Characters such as Iroh II, Asami, Bolin, Lin, and the airbenders hardly had any screen time, due to the amount of Makorra.
While the Amon issue was important and did get screen time, the whole Equalist movement wasn't given nearly as much depth as it could have- a lot of those Makorra vs. every other ship scenes could have been sacrificed for at least a little bit more information on the Equalist followers. They were mainly portrayed as masked people who shock the living daylights out of benders, we never got to see what completely drove them to do these things, we never saw the stronger examples of oppression. -Every other time Korra went to face Amon it was usually with just Mako while the others got shafted.
Maybe it's just me, but after re-watching the show I thought that Amon's backstory was something of a cop out. I thought it was touching, but him being Tarrlok's brother seems somewhat lazy to me. Maybe because the whole "evil"-sibling thing has been done so many times before. Also, we never really got to know why Noatak turned into Amon. It was hinted a couple of times that he always believed in equality, but I think we are missing a very big and important part of his life; which is the transformation from Noatak to Amon. Besides, we only got to know Tarrlok's side of the whole story. It would have been interesting to see Amon's perspective of the whole issue. Oh, and it was never explained how exactly he was able to take bending away.
And as mentioned above, Makorra was shoved down our throats the whole time. They were in most of the scenes. Heck, the whole series finale was Makorra vs Amon. And while important things like the whole Equalist movement never got resolved, Makorra did.
I don't really care.
I'm a big Makorra fan anyway.
It was not all about Makorra if it was Amon and the equalists would not be there T__T
Oh and not to meantion, Korra and Mako being mister and miss perfect. Being able to do everything and getting everything. Mako being able to get out of Amon's blood bending, even though Aang couldn't without being in the Avatar state. And now going to be using blue fire. Korra randomly using air out of no where for Makorra and because she is again miss perfect. Oh and her getting her bending back without learning anything. I mean WTF was the point in her loosing it, if it was just going to be handed back to her on a silver platter?
People seem to assume that because Mako and Korra were in the fights at the end, their pairing and romance was too. That's not really how it works. Most of the time they were focussing on the task at hand than on the romance, again strongly suggesting that the primary focus was actually on the plot and not the romantic sub plot. And this is speaking as someone who wanted less romance and more major story; I am fully aware, however, that they gave more time to the main story and am not complaining that the writers wanted to include elements of romance in the story as well.
