Personally, I don't think she did- but Korra, being Korra, faced off with him anyway. Sort of a brave/stubborn/pride thing. In episode 4 she was clearly terrified of Amon, but still challenged him to a one-on-one fight at midnight. ..Yeah, sort of shows that her character didn't evolve that much.

I do really like it that she was still afraid of him, though, even when she knew the truth- and the truth about him and his abilities probably scared her even more. It sort of reminds me of the quote "only fools are not afraid."

'Overcome' doesn't have to mean that she stopped being afraid, it means she refused to let that fear dictate her actions and how she responded to him as a threat. And she did just that, in the end.
