Do any of you know about the Iluminati? Why are they considered the bad Guys?

The name Iluminati was given to several groups, including the freethinkers you mentioned. I don't really know a lot about them, I've read however, that they latter perished and that their documents had been seized.

Some claim not just that they survived until today, but that they also secretly control the world (New World Order) and that the society includes some very famous people.
Like I said, I don't know much of either Iluminati or how they are conected, but I am quite sure that the historical Iluminati are hated because of the supposed link with the modern conspiracy theories.

Christians see them as bad because they were a group that wanted science to be proven as superior to religion. This was at a time where religion was very much in control over the world, so many people feared and hated them.

There is, of course, no reason for them to exist today, as Atheism is for the most part tolerated.

iluminati us far as i know weren't atheists but irreligious(they believed in a god who is not nessecery the cristian one) and they hated the way church acted...

in my opinion iluminati(=a dead organization) were seeking the truth in times when nobody else did. they considered the bad guys because it's sells more and is more comfortable to believe that are some uknown power "invisible" people who nobody knows that f*cked everything up than the politicians they voted, the represents of god in earth and the presidents of companys they gave them their money. as simple as that

plus is a good way to make a money writing about these guys: you write a shitty book about it that comforts people("it's my fault this place sucks but iluminatis' ") it becomes a best seller and you are a millionare!
