Pokémon has had characters break the fourth wall in several episodes. An example is in the episode "Pokémon Scent-sation" when Meowth was freaking out because of a bad stench from a Gloom, but then he said "Oh yeah I forgot, the cartoonists never gave me a nose." An example of an entire episode of Pokémon where characters break the fourth wall is "The Path that Leads to Goodbye" when Cilan narrates to the viewers why Iris and Ash were fighting so much, as well as when Meowth broke the fourth wall to explain to the audience that Team Rocket was hiding and waiting to catch Pikachu. In that same episode at one point when Meowth is talking to the audience Jessie even asks him "Who are you talking to?" Meowth's reply was "Just some friends of mine." Another example is from the episode "Steamboat Willies" when during the blast-off Jessie said "I don't care what those Pokémon party-poopers thought I liked our song." James says "Bet the kids did." When James said that he was referring to the viewers. Meowrh then shook his hand and said "Fat chance."

Yes, now that u mentioned them, Pokemon DOES at times break the fourth wall. Very good choice :)
